When Dandeliontells "The Story of El-ahrairah and the Black Rabbit of Inle", he
saysat one point (after King Darzin and his army flees) :  "-and that iswhy no
rabbit who tells the tales of El-ahrairah can say what kind ofcreatures they
were or what they looked like.  Not one of them has everbeen seen, from that day
to this."

So King Darzin and his people had to be a species that existed only in their
stories.  They must have been large rabbit-like creatures, if Rabscuttle was
able to pass off as a young one, but they weren't hares, that's for certain.

Hi Chris,

Yes, I was the one whose Bigwig and Hazel plushes were given away to the
Goodwill in my absence, those were treasured in my childhood and I can't
believe I had left them behind. Ah well, I'm bound to find that last
piece to the collection at some point. It was great to find the four I
have though and I hadn't known there was a Blackberry, Fiver, and Kehaar.

  And no problem, I'll take some photos of them tomorrow and give you the

Hey Skipai,
I just thought of something I didn't realize before. Why am I asking other
people on how to get a hold of Truffle when you yourself were e-mailed the
glossary by Truffle! This means that you would have had to have seen, known, or
had their e-mail address at one time due to the sort of caller I.D. thing that
accompanies e-mails. Do you still remember it or have it written down somewhere?
 
If you don't remember the e-mail address, do you at least know Truffle's real
identity so I can maybe find him/her on LinkedIn or something? It's worth a
shot.
 
On the pretext that you don't remember or know any of these things, I don't know
what we're going to do here. Only one person has responded to my shout out for
Truffle's address in 48 hours, and that wasn't even about contacting them. Is
there any chance, if you do find your copy of the glossary and absolutely no one
knows his/her e-mail address, that we could ignore the
must-need-permission-first rule? For all we know, Truffle may have died years
ago in some freak accident and we could never carry out the needed
requirements in order to freely distribute the glossary.
 
Have you had a chance to look for it lately?

ahur means hear and er'l
means words. It's apparantly, as I think Lillyplum said, a phrase used by chief
rabbits when talking to subordinates to gain their attention.
 
I do have a list of some words of Truffle's that I've found on this site. All in
all, I have a little over 100 so far, some of them are undefined, but that's
only one third of the total alleged vocab. that's actually in his/her glossary.
I really want to have a complete copy. There are probably some valuable an
duseful terms in there that I'd love to add to my collection. So please tell me
if any of you know how to contact Truffle!

One other question before I go. Is it considered plagerism or something if you
distribute it without Truffle's knowledge? Just wondering because it seems like

It's not mine and I checked it and saw that it can't be redistributed
without permission from the author itself. Been really busy and I ain't
sure where I've put it since I've moved. It's somewhere but don't have
the time to go through packing boxes at the moment.

Best bet would be to email Truffle herself and ask for a copy. Have to
do that anyways for permission to repost it etc.

Thanks Entei-rah, I'm really bad at finding things when it comes to computers. I
did manage to find the glossary and the analysis that went along with it. Some
aspects of it do seem promising and may help me discover something I'd looked
over before.
 
Also, if you're reading this Skipai, which did you mean when you said you "have
a copy of it", Entei's glossary or Truffle's? I wasn't too sure which one you
were talking about.
If it was Entei's, you no longer have to bother with typing it up. If it was
Truffle's, please continue to do so. I can't wait to see it =)

patronising, but if you went to www.watershipdown. org there was a big bit of
text, followed by two links. One to a post on the group talking about the site,
the other to a archived copy of the site.

Still, I've followed those steps myself, so if it helps I can tell you the

On the left hand side of that page, there's a small icon which says 'frames
800x600' underneath it. Clicking this link with your left hand mouse button will

Where is the sample attached? I don't see anything else besides your message
here. Oh well, just send it to me later by e-mail.
   As for finding out more about the words and how Jemmer came up with them, I'm
afraid I can't help you with that. You'll have to ask him yourself. I have his
e-mail adress, but I don't think he'll answer very quickly, if at all, since
he's a college professor and must be very busy. I've tried to e-mail him
recently, but he still hasn't answered back.
   It's also no use trying to look these things up online either, they were
recently taken down or expired, but I can say, from copies of his articles, that
his words were influenced by Latin, Greek, and Arabic along with other human
languages. As for his meathod or context of creation, I can't say. Another thing
that I found very frustrating with his work is that he uses meaningless
particles to help convey a certain sense or meaning. I can't really help you
with those either.
   I'll be e-mailing you the full extent of his story, The Sunsong, later on
today, along with a list of vocabulary that I attempted to translate the
meanings for. Maybe that'll help you a bit.
   Also, send me the glossary/transaltion by e-mail and I'll do the same with
the rest of the excerpts, just for better rendering of Jemmer's words.

I thought you needed a glossary so what I did was starting to translate the
words adn a sample of it(before I go on) is attached for your review.

Please let me know what exactly you think I should do. The words themselves
may have origins in other less know languages or dialects so it is an
immense work trying to identify each and every source and trying to figure
out the meaning which is perhaps generally metaphorical. It is worth trying,
but maybe we can find out more on how the author came to choose those terms
and about the grammar rules created.

There is always a source in the author's mind even when he creates new
words, all we have to do is identify the general context of the source, I
think.

Last night I was watching Autumnwatch Upsrung on BBC 2 and there was a clip of a
stoat leaping about in a way that was described as a lure for its prey when a
rabbit suddenly charged at it from the undergrowth.

Does anyone here notice any connection?
