Central Library 100 year celebration - BRING A BOOK !   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #6509 of 6702 |
Loved the front page article WfM (issue 53) promoting this event for Sat 11th.
It includes a picture c.1959 of the main counter and heavens be praised shelves
crammed with books, in a library too, what a surprise.

Just a glance at the cabinet end of the shelving is an authoritative sign
warning "SILENCE is requested". Don't we live in such calmer times now where the
general public must not be told how to behave due to the P.C. brigade of
do-gooder nancys!

Oh, and if you intend going, don't forget to take a book, because they don't
have many left.

ps Has any member of the staff yet owned-up to being complicit by boxing up the
stocks of books, then carted off to the Edmonton incinerator plant, or do they
claim "Ve ver just obeying der orders" ??
Their shame will never go away.
