Ward Walks- Things that have been missed, but why? High St/Palmerst   Topic List   < Prev Topic  |  Next Topic >

Blindingly obvious but nonetheless omitted from being given a review; The Traffic light phasing at High Street/Palmerston Rd. Absolutely crap.

How many times have pedestrains stood there and been confronted by vehicles straggling the junction when given the Green Man to cross "in safety" ? How many times has the culprit either been a bus at the crossing point, or further along at the nearby Mission Grove bus stop, thus causing all traffic behind it to tail back. Why haven't the council painted a Yellow Box there.

Saturdays' are the worst but that is no excuse not for the team of highway enforcement officers (did you know there are supposed to be 5 or 6) doing something to have reported back to the boss man about this problem months ago.

The actual 'stop' phase for vehicles has a serious time-lag before the Green Man lights up and then, that is only lit for a minimum FOUR to SIX SECONDS before the Red Man lights again.

NB There is a council CCTV camera position overlooking the junction - what has that shown the council's community safety portfolio holder you may ask.
