Question - does your club do "online annual membership registration"? If so, how?

++ PLEASE RESPOND TO ME OFFLINE!!! PLEASE RESPOND TO ME OFFLINE!!!! ++

I will filter through any responses and send out a summary note.

Our club is considering offering on-line annual membership registration. If
that works, we might expand to on-line event registration and other things.

I am interested in the pros and cons of such endeavors.

1. As with all clubs, all work is done by volunteers, so set up and
maintenance has to be easy and quick enough for a somewhat computer literate
user to work with.

2. No resident Internet nor programming guru, so see #1.

3. What service do you use to collect the online money?
a. How much does the service cost?
b. How do you get the money collected from the service?
c. How do you get the data collected [registration info] from the
service?

4. If the data collection service is separate from the money collection
service, how does it work?

5. What "gotchas" did/have you run into trying to implement and maintain
this online service?

6. Looking back, if you implemented on-line registration, are you glad you
did? If you are less than glad, what did you consider as alternatives?

B1. BONUS QUESTION #1: Since this should probably be incorporated into the
club's current general web site, what web site hosting service are you using
that conforms to #1 and #2 above?

B2. BONUS QUESTION #2: How do you handle club members that do not have or
do not want to use Internet access and/or e-mail?

Thanks for any and all input.
