The "X" Has Gone Wild!!!!!
The "Walk the USA, A to Z" Special Event Program has an important
change to announce. Due to constantly rising gas prices and rumors
that the Xenia Walking Club is going inactive, we have decided to
make the "X" a "Wild Card". This means you can stamp any walk in the
X space, as long as you have not previously stamped the same event in
your "Walk the USA, A to Z" Book. A YRE with and without the plus
stamp counts as one event. The same YRE may not be stamped in your
book more than once.
We have given this decision much consideration and listened to
comments from program participants across the country. The only "X'
city in the USA is Xenia, Ohio and we realize traveling to Xenia to
do a walk creates a hardship for many walkers. We are sorry for any
inconvenience this may have caused to those 173 walkers who have
already completed the program.
This change is effective immediately. All other rules of the program
still apply. Only the "X" is a wild card. All other letters must be
stamped after completing a walk in a city starting with the
corresponding letter of the alphabet.
This change did not happen suddenly. It has been discussed for
several months. The POC of this program, working with members of the
AVA EC, decided to make this change after much thought and
discussion.
Any questions regarding "Walk the USA, A to Z" should be directed to
the POC of the program.
