So, life throws interesting curves at a person sometimes, and as it
happens, I managed to inherit a personal fortune in the billions over
the weekend. I was thinking about what I wanted to do with all this
money, and after ordering all the CDs I've ever wanted off Amazon, I
found I still had far more than I could count left over. My attention
then turned to the possibility of a Steampunk-based theme park. A
Victorian Disneyland, as it were (I even came up with the tentative
name "Victorialand", though I don't know how the Cocteau Twins would
feel about that).
I'm a bit flumoxed over what rides it would have though. About a far
as I've gotten is the entrance pavillion, which is a replica of the
Crystal Palace. Inside would be the standard apparatus of boutiques,
restaurants, a museum of Victorian technology and aesthetics, and
stuff like that. I might include the park train station too, I don't
know. Back in behind that would be a replica of the Eiffel Tower as
well.
What other rides could such a park, based on Jules Verne and H.G.
Wells, have? Probably some kind of submarine ride I guess, and
something with dinosaurs, maybe a simulator ride of a Victorian trip
to the moon, a penny arcade and nickleodon... But this is looking
more and more like just a Victorian version of Disneyland rides.
Any thoughts?
