Marie-Louise von Franz (1915-1998) was a Jungian therapist & philosopher who wrote extensively on psychology. A classicist by training, her knowledge of symbolism & ancient languages made her almost uniquely placed to comment on the evolution of human consciousness in relation to the history of world thought-forms, which she did with a breadth of compassion and a depth of moral insight that exceeds her mentor Carl Jung.
