) What is Global Screens?

Global Screens allows anyone in the world to pull down the Live Earth World Feed for public broadcast in any venue or location of any size. From 10 to 10,000 people can come together and enjoy this free broadcast. We encourage people to utilize local broadcasts and work with local broadcasters to access the Live Earth concerts, but we will also make the satellite coordinates available to appropriate events after they have been reviewed and approved.

2) What is the World Feed?

The World Feed is a special, non-commercial broadcast, which will show the best musical acts and messages from all of the Live Earth concert venues. The Live Earth concerts begin in Syndey, Australia and finishes in New York. At any given time of day, there are as many as 5 concerts going on simultaneously.

3) How long is the World Feed broadcast?

The World Feed broadcast lasts 22 hours, however you can tune in to as much or as little of the broadcast as you want.

4) What time does the World Feed begin and end?

The World Feed begins at 8am GMT on July 7th and ends at 6:00am GMT July 8th. (4:00am EDT 7/7 - 2:00am 7/8 EDT)

5) 5) Will my a local TV channel be broadcasting Live Earth? If so can we show that instead?

Depending on where you are, it is likely there will be a local carrier of Live Earth. In the US, Live Earth will be carried on seven of the NBC owned networks. We recommend viewing one of the NBC channels, as this will be the simplest option. You can also work with your local broadcaster to provide you with the World Feed, or access the World Feed via satellite downlink directly.

6) What kind of equipment will I need to pull down the satellite feed?

That depends on your venue and its existing infrastructure. Basically, you will need satellite downlink equipment (like a satellite truck or a theater already equipped for satellite downlink) and viewing screens. We strongly suggest you work with your local broadcaster to access the satellite feed.

7) Does Live Earth provide or pay for this equipment?

No. Live Earth is only providing the feed. All arrangements for downlink, venue set-up, screens, etc. are the responsibility of the venue or local organizer.

8) What is the cost for getting the Live Earth broadcast feed?

There is NO cost for pulling down the feed.

9) Can we charge people for watching Live Earth at our venue or screening?

No. Live Earth cannot be used as a commercial endeavor to make money for the local organizer. The Live Earth satellite broadcast is freely available to everyone.

10) If I'm already holding a paid event, can I show the Live Earth broadcast as part of the festivities?

Potentially, yes. It depends on what the event is and how it is structured. What you cannot do is sell tickets claiming it is a Live Earth event or charge for an event that is SOLELY a screening. Please review the "Terms of Use" and "General Guidelines" in the "Friends of Live Earth" materials for more information. In order to access the World Feed via satellite, you may have to agree to an additional "Terms of Use" specific to the Global Screens Program.

11) What if I want to make my screening a bigger event?

We encourage the organization of events to raise awareness of our message. We have put together a program called "Friends of Live Earth" to assist with building a larger event.

12) What do I need to do to hold a Global Screening?

Please register through the "Friends of Live Earth" program and check the box that indicates you are interested in a Global Screening. We will contact you with more specific information.

13) When will I get the satellite downlink info?

We will email registered "Friends of Live Earth" hosts who have been approved for "Global Screens" participation with this information, and PLEASE CHECK BACK TO THIS PAGE FOR UPDATES. Thank you for your interest in Live Earth.
