It's stainless, cheap stainles. At least most of it.

Jeff, I'm not sure if it's stainless or not but mine is original 159K. I
replaced my own last summer, $35 on Ebay. All you need is the flex pipe which
comes with a flange fitting, nuts and bolts etc. I don't think you need to
replace the whole system unless there are other issues.

Subject: [villagerquest] V/Q exhaust systems, stainless?
Hiya,
I have a '97 V with 98K miles. Late last summer, I started getting
an exhaust leak that has since gotten somewhat worse. I was at first
fearful of the studs but it's actually to my relief coming from the
stainless steel braided flex pipe up front.
What I'm wondering is is the whole system stainless? I haven't been
able to find out anywhere for certain. Before I look into getting the
pipe replaced, I'd like to know so I don't get ripped off by them
wanting to replace the rest of the system when it's still good. I hope
it's possible for the pipe to be replaced leaving the rest of the good
parts intact. I'd almost consider it myself but wintertime isn't the
best time for DIY in Ohio. Neither is trying to get rusted bolts off
an exhaust system. Thanks, Jeff, '97V, Ohio
