Members of the Society for Creative Anachronism-Ironwood Michigan

In Old Icelandic, “Hvítskógar” means “White Woods”. With our group’s home (Ironwood, Michigan) being nestled amongst trees and snow for the vast majority of the year, it is very likely that Viking explorers would have given this area such a name. Until mid 2010, our Forming SCA group was known under the name of Ketelblastr, which we took to mean “Cauldron that contains inspiration”, an homage to the myth of Odin obtaining the mead of poets. We are currently a Village within the SCA, which means we are well on our way to becoming a full status Shire.

The personas of most of the members reflect the area’s predominantly Scandinavian heritage - Celts, Normans, Vikings, Norsemen, Finns and Danes make up a large part of the group’s culture and personality.

We are always interested in meeting new people and gaining members. As a group we will help each other with research and projects to expand our knowledge and abilities. We will meet regularly and join each other at gatherings and events to add enthusiasm and support.
