Welcome to the Viking Yacht Club e-group located in Tacoma, WA. The club has been around since 1959. VYC is a cruising club made up of both sailboat and powerboat owners. We have reciprocal privileges with many other yacht clubs in Puget Sound and Canada. Club cruises are scheduled all through the year.

In the early days VYC won the Sweepstakes Award in the Marine Daffodil Parade two years in a row. And in the third year took second place. During the next 15 years the Vikings were considered "the club to beat"

VYC is a member of the Northwest Boating Council (NBC). In 1962 and 1963 VYC won the attendance trophy at the annual NBC cruise for having the largest percentage of member owned boats present. If a club won the trophy 3 years in a row they were allowed to keep the attendance trophy permanently. In 1964 VYC had an attendance of 43 boats and won the trophy permanently. To date that number of boats from any one club has never been equaled.

VYC is dedicated to improving the information flow among its members. This e-mail list is used for discussion among members, to announce events, to sign up for cruises, to view the upcoming cruise agenda, to distribute the monthly newsletter, to post pictures of events and post web site addresses (Links) of interest to VYC members.
