I believe that the way it works is that his disability goes to the nursing home to pay for care on some kind of percentage basis. similar to the way ss goes to

VA disability 100% payment - does it go away if...
If a vet with 100% disability payment goes in to a "federal" VA nursing home permanently, does the VA disability payment go away? Go down? Thanks! Patrick C.

Married Veterans
I've heard it is faster if you just apply for ONE of them at first, and then go back and get it adjusted for the other one, but I don't know the mechanics.

No, you file one application for the both of them. There is a question on the 526 that will cross reference the spouse. They will get the two veterans
