Re: compilation error

Dear jayanthan,
You dont need root access to install fonts. Keep your fonts in .fonts
directory and follow the steps:

mkdir .fonts
cp mlkr0ntt.ttf ~/.fonts

ttmkfdir -o fonts.scale

cd ~/.fonts

head -1 fonts.scale > fonts.dir
tail +2 fonts.scale | tac >> fonts.dir
cp fonts.dir fonts.scale
xset +fp ~/.fonts

To verify that the font is installed properly,

xset q
xfontsel

If SuSe 9.0 is using XFS for font rendering, then just keeping the
fonts in .font directory is sufficient (a restart of X is required, i
guess). But some applications may not be able to use XFS to render the
characters.

BTW, Did you run xfontsel to check the fonts? Are you able to see the
malayalam fonts in xfontsel?

thanks,
Paul
