Welcome! This photo is the Moses and Margaret Adkins Van Hoose Family. Moses Dekalb VanHoose was b. August 14, 1849 in Wayne Co., WV. he m. Mary Margaret Adkins she was b. November 1852 in Morgan Co. Ky. Moses and Mary Margaret both died in Carterville, Williamson County, Illinois. Their children L-R Harvey George,Ruth,Henry Jeff, Robert Lee, Nancy Jane. The VanHoose surname goes back to Jan Fransse Van Husum/Van Hoesen b. 1608 in Husum a city in Schleswig, he married Volkje Juriaens in Nieuwe Kerk, Amsterdam,Holland. Jan Fransse was a Commissioner of Lands for the Dutch West India Co., and was an early settler of Ft. Orange, now Albany, N.Y. The name changed from Van Husum to Van Hoesen to Van Hooser to VanHoose.
