Well...I really don't know what to make of this?? The upper one is the one I already had so I check the 1940 obituaries and she is there. I guess she died twice? Apparently this is a different Mrs. Scott Daniel soI checked the Kentucky death records and the 1981 obituary seems to be the accurate one since she doen't show up in the 1940 Kentucky deaths. Also, her husband (Scott Daniel) died in 1975 and his obituary says the wife is surviving.  Go figure.

I've installed another folder in the file section, VanHoose and related marriages in Johnson County, Kentucky 1900-1920. These are from Vol. 2 of the marriage records and the information wasn't always complete so I my have missed a few. If you think there should be additions or corrections just let me know and I'll change it if needed. I tried not to add notes but some of the entries are so vague that it's difficult to know who the bride & groom are without additional information.    Bill

I thought it might have been someone you know. That's where all of the 1979 obituaries came from....she was passing them to you as she found them. Thanks!! I also discovered that she did the 1976 obits earlier this year and there were some in there that I didn't have. I haven't checked for any other recent additions yet. I'm splitting time with my other project...I started again on copying the VanHoose related marriages from Vol. 2 of the Johnson County marriages but it will be another week before I'm done. Then we'll have all of the years posted from 1843-1940. I'm probably missing a few but they didn't always name the parents and I'm never 100% sure who it is.

The 1979 & 1980 Paintsville Herald obituaries were transcribed and posted online last month at the obituary site. There are quite a few VanHoose and related among them.   Bill

I might have passed along some bad information. If you have a Jack Estep married to Carrie VanHoose, daughter of Jesse VanHoose and Juliana Pelphrey....his real name was Zachary (or Zack as a nickname). He is listed as Jack Estep in Joyce Lindstrom's book but it's wrong and his name is correctly transcribed in Vol. 2 of the "Johnson County Marriages 1900-1920".       Bill

I found out about Shirley Wheeler this morning in the Urbana Daily Citizen
online edition. Shirley is the sister-in-law of Ann VanHoose, who is the widow
of my great uncle Hansel VanHoose. Ann has lost not only her husband this past
year, but a daughter as well.
