This is a group for discussing Vanatru, the worship of the Germanic gods Freyr, Freyja, Njord and other Vanic deities. The Vanir are a family of gods who represent prosperity, fertility, wealth, nature, fecundity, unity, and frith. They have their origins in the realm of Vanaheim but Njord and the twins Freyr and Freyja were sent to live in Asgard as hostages after an ancient war with the Aesir. Freyr is lord of the elves and also rules in Alfheim.

Freyr and Freyja are the two most important of the Vanir family. Their names in Old Norse mean "Lord" and "Lady". These titles are often used by Wicca or pagans, but this list is meant primarily for Heathens/Asatruar.

The Cult of the Vanir (Vanatru) is a subset of Germanic heathenry. The three main Vanic gods are also considered members of the Aesir family by adoption. This group is for those who have Freyr, Freyja or Njord as their patron (fulltrui), folks who worship the Vanir exclusively, or just those interested in the subject.
