Description

The Uttarakhand eGroup is an electronic forum for discussing issues pertaining to the social, cultural, environmental, economic, and political well-being of the Uttarakhand Himalayas and to lend support the vibrant social movements operating in the region. The need for such a forum is especially great, as Uttarakhand faces its greatest challenges yet as a nascent state of the Indian Union.

As an independent, non-partisan internet community, the eGroup therefore hopes to serve as an information clearinghouse and continue contributing its ideas and opinions, as well as proposing alternatives to the issues of development and socio-economic uplift in the Hills. It does so in the hopes of bringing about greater awareness in the Uttarakhandi community at home and abroad.

Recently, the Uttarakhand Solidarity Network has been reestablished at uttarakhand.net to continue the work of the eGroup as an action centre for the ongoing Uttarakhand movement and other associated struggles in the new state.
