Caring for someone with an illness, whether in a professional setting or in the
home, can present on-going stressors that result in compassion fatigue. Trained
in standard medicine, psychotherapy and integrative care, Dr. Shah will provide
a glimpse into the neurobiology of empathy and how we ourselves can get hurt in
the process of caring for others. He will review different approaches to
self-care when living and working in the midst of trauma, fear and grief.
Through discussion and hands-on exercises, attendees will learn how to put
stress into a 360-degree perspective that promotes optimal health.
