Hi,
My name is Len Rose and I served on the
Shang from Aug 63 until Aug 65. I was in V-1 division
on the flight deck. I made two Med cruises. I later
joined the reserves in Navy Intell. I retired in Mar of
97 with 23 years.
SHANGRI-LA's bell is located at the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, FL along
with the 20-foot "builder's model" of the ship. The model was made during her
angle-deck conversion in the 50s.
My father served as the printer aboard the Shangri-La. we would like to know
where the Ship Bell is now located?
contact me at
wdwiggly@...
thanks
Wayne
LOOKING FOR A SQUADRON PATCH FOR MY FATHER. HE

LOST ALL OF HIS PATCHES OVER THE YEARS!
IF ANYONE
KNOWS WHERE I COULD FIND ONE, I WOULD APPRECIATE THE

For those not aware, reunions are held EVERY
year. We may have guys that you may be looking for that
are members and come to reunions. We've had many guys
find each other and renew friendships at reunions. Our
next reunion is 6/21-25 in Pittsburgh. If you're
interested, e-mail me at... n2udo@...
Hi Len
I did not make to the last reunion in
S.C..I was aboard the Yorktown in 1994 when i was down
there on vacation. There is a picture around my house of
the Shangri-La being towed out of the harbor on its
way to Taiwan to be scrapped in 86.I may try to make
the reunion Pittsburg.I do remember getting a lump in
my throat when I stepped onto the deck of the
YOrktown.We didn't know how lucky
we were to be able to
serve
enough for now
Bill Riley
Bill,
I was in V-1 division from sept. 1963
until aug. 1965. I made two med cruises.
I also
made our last reunion in Charleston, S.C. last june.
Had a great time. Were you there?
Don't know if I
will be able to make the next one in Pittsburg. Hope
to talk to you again.

Len Rose
I'm going to have to check with my dad to make
sure, but I think those were the years he was on the
Shangri-la. He worked on the planes and was also on Midway
Island for a time.

I'll check and give more
specifics when I get them. :)
I saw a blurb in the Horizon about this club site
and I thought I would check it out. I am a member of
the Shangri-La Reunion Association, but I have only
been to one reunion, Buffalo Wyo. We ( my wife & I)
had a great time in Buffalo. I can't find the time to
do the reunions, but will do better once I retire in
a few years. I work at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard
in Bremerton. Been there a long time. I've only seen
four of my M-Div. shipmates since I left the Shang in
June, 1970.
