Missing Pieces by Michelle Gelles

MD 8.2030 Bridge

"Lt Cmdr Paul Henderson, XO of the USS SORANUS, Counsellor. You're on the SORANUS at the moment. Are you ok?"

*The SORANUS. * Relief flooded through her. She remembered the SORANUS, the ship on which she served. The Commander, however, she still couldn’t place. And yet this fact caused more consternation than worry. Perhaps because of him, the calmness in his voice, the fact that unlike her he seemed to be in command of his faculties or perhaps because she had a ready explanation for her faulty memory in the pounding of her head. Once more , she answered the question at face value

“I believe I may have sustained a head injury sir. I don’t judge it to be life threatening but it’s doing a bit of pounding and things are a bit fuzzy.”

Paul was somewhat relieved while this wasn’t necessarily good it was far better than some of the other possibilities he had entertained.

“Over here. sir” Renee heard the Bajoran security Chief and recognized it. She called out to him “Taban where are you?”

The fact that she had addressed the chief by name was not lost on Henderson, a positive sign. Not so positive was the fact that no answer was forthcoming from Rox. He quickened his pace in the direction of the voice and noted Renee behind him.

“Myers her sir. I believe I’ve got some emergency power. Life support is holding, but I can only get low level lighting and I’m still working on Comms”

“Good work Myers “ Henderson and the counselor’s voice came almost in unison as the reached the still form of Taban Rox. Both officers far to tense to be the least bit amused as the circumstance. Renee blinked as auxiliary lighting came up even though they weren’t even half power. She had quickly become used to the dark, but this placed her in a far better position to evaluate Taban’s injuries. She spared a moment’s glance for Paul who had taken up position on the other side of the body and was severely dismayed that seeing the man generated no more recognition than his voice yet the injured Bajoran was her chief concern

“Chief?” she chked for responsiveness and got no answer but his chest was rising and falling as he breathed on his own and their didn’t appear significant external bleeding. We can’t tell much this way. We need to get him to sickbay, but I can’t be much help on that point. How are those comms coming?”

“Not yet Counselor” Meyers responded

“Get Taban to Sickbay then Ensign. I’ll see what I can do with her in your absence. I know my way around a console or two and bring me back some pain reliever”

Respectfully submitted by,

Michelle Gelles
