Salam Alaikum!
Sorry, my internet connection was down for several days
and I could not reply before.
Thanks to everyone who sent me the urdu phonetic
keyboard layout.
I have uploaded an Urdu Phonetic keyboard for SC
Unipad. This works only in SC Unipad. Download this
file UrduPhon.ukb from the file section of this group.
Run Unipad on your conmputer, click 'Keyboard' menu
item, select 'Load...' from menu and in the next window
select the UrduPhon.ukb and click the 'Open' button.
Then select UrduPhon+ from the keyboard layout
selection drop box on the menu.
I have also uploaded an Urdu Phonetic keyboard for
Keyman 6.0 'urd1.kmx' (also the text layout file from
which this keyboard was compiled, 'urd1.kmn')
To run this keyboard you need to download and install
Keyman 6.0. from
http://www.tavultesoft.com/downloads.php
I have met with some problems on my Win98se system. But
I have heard that it works fine on winXP/2K. To set it
up, we have to install Arabic language support of
Internet Explorer. Then add Arabic language in the
keyboard applet of Control Panel. (A blue box appears
in the System Tray, showing the current language, En or
Ar). Run Keyman configuration, install the Urdu
Keyboard on the Keyboard tab, then go to Languages tab
click on 'none' on the arabic keyboard line, select
Urdu Phonetic and click OK. Now when you run Keyman,
and select Arabic language, by pressing Alt and Shift
simultaneously, You *SHOULD BE* able to type Urdu. I
was not so lucky. The keyboard only worked in Wordpad
when the keyman support for wordpad was installed.
But as I say, I have heard that it works on XP/2K. By
the way, Keyman 6.0 is free for personal use. (The
developer version is not free)
Bye for now.
Asad.
