I have been wanting to try Gene's "Smart Set" outfit on Vita. It fits great!
I just put a photo in the "Attire for Vita" album. I may try a couple more.

Hello to All,

I just took the plunge and joined the Vita Group.

I had been mooning over this doll since last year and finally acquired one
second hand, a Vita Tosca. I was so surprised. Then I went to the MDCC 2010 in
North Carolina. I had my Vita and was in love with her body, how she can move
and pose. I brought my Mom and Aunt with me to the convention. It was the first
doll convention for me ever and also thought this would be a good time for my
family to bond. We travelled from Maryland to North Carolina by car about 6-8
hours both ways.

At the convention, I met Ms. Dorinda and Mr. Ken Young. They were so welcoming
and friendly. Everywhere we travelled we kept bumping into each other, I was
afraid they thought I might be stalking them. ;)

So, I was fascinated before the convention. Happy with my doll and then I had
the Sapphire doll with all her face plates. I then went on a hunt and now have
Breeze, the fire element one, eventually Urban expressions, and two Licorice,
one of which had a different face painting.

I want to paint the faces myself, but I was never a painter ever. So, acrylics,
blushers, sealer, retardants...I really have no clue how to use all this on the
face. I even have extra blank face plate to play.

I have tried her in many different clothes. She looks good in some Ellowyne's,
the closer fitting styles. Others look too bulky. Antoinette fashions work, but
some just a smidgen too tight around the bust, same with Cami and Jon fashions.
Tyler fashions work great, Sommer & Fields, also some ooak kinds that were for
other dolls but looks great on her.I have even tried some Evangeline fashions
with success. My favorites are Wizard of Oz Tonner doll fashions, they are
fantasy, princess and fabulous. I have posted some of those pictures already.

I did have a calamity though. I was sitting my Breeze and was positioning the
legs when one of the legs came off! I hadn't paid attention because of the
flowing Tyler pants she had on. I was able to get it back together and had a
chance to she the "mechanical joint" with the ball and cap and sleeve. I was
able put it back together with a constant pressure and finally a snap. So, she
is good as new. I love Breeze's makeup, my one of a kind, Tosca. The face
plates. Licorice's makeup is a bit harsh. However, I have mine in a blunt cut
cherry/fire red wig and it just goes together. She will probably be the one I
attempt to paint after much practice.

I only started collecting fashion dolls maybe 3 years ago. And before that, I
only had some Barbies fromt he 80's that I had as a child, Jem dolls, and my
Darci doll( my favorite) When I had pulled those dolls from storage thinking to
get rid of them, I did some research on Ebay. That was when I become hooked! I
started with the Darci, soon I had to complete all the 30 fashions she had.
(done!) Then I had the Jem dolls, these crazy neon haired rockers(that Mattel
tried to undercut with Barbie and the Rocker), Have all the dolls(well too many
and all the fashions, way too many) on display in a case. Then looking at
Barbies, finally had the collector bug for SilkStones, so I have a few of those
and some replicas of the early barbies and even a few original outfits from the
early 60's.

So, of all places I found a new BJD style doll at a good price point at Ashton
Drake the Delilah doll. She needed clothes! Which was how I found Ellowynes,
which then landed me into all the rest Goodreau, Vita, and Evangeline. Needless
to say hobbies are not cheap! But I have reclaimed by need to play. Vita is my
favorite to pose and play with.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I really didn't intend to spill it all
in one post. However, I must of needed to get it all out there.

Best Regards, Regina

Hello Regina:

Welcome to our Vita group. It is so nice to "see" you again and to learn of your doll collecting experience. Thank you for sharing with us the journey you have taken in rediscovering the fun in doll collecting - the collecting of Vita in particular J.

Vita's legs are engineered to come off her hip to avoid damage in the event they are put in a position that exceeds their limitation. I am so proud of you for figuring out how to put them back on. For those who need a little help, please go to the following link that show how to reattach the leg:

Wow, Ken.  That is a great video!  How good to know all that info.  You know that if Trixie's leg had ever com off I would have PANICKED! :O  Now I know what to do!
Thanks so much for posting that.

How nice to read about your journey into doll collecting, and especially into Vita collecting!

It is great to have a new Urban Legend, and  I hope you'll enjoy the group as much as I know all of us will enjoy hearing about your Vitas.

And I second your nice comments about Dorinda and Ken.  They are absolutely the best!

Welcome Regina!    I too have fallen "victim" to Vita's   I have repainted several and the more I paint, the I like her.    Acrylics will work best.   Fell free to ask any questions you might have on that.   There are several on this group that are VERY talented in repainting Vita.   Are those your photos recently added to the group?

Yes, I just added pictures relating to Vita and to some of the clothes I have
tried her in. I haven't staged a place to photogragh them. So, right now they
are just on display, until I get the shelves set up to make "deep shadow" boxes
for scenes and "rooms". Vita's body just seems to "conform" as much as her feet
to so many styles.

I looked at your photos yesterday.   You have a nice collection.   Vita is the best at using the furniture, she is a lot of fun to pose.   Thanks for posting the photos!   If you ever need encouragement to get another one, there is a lot of enablers, er, encouragement here.

Hello Ken,

The joint on the doll is truly innovative. Once I had seen what I'd done,
putting her back together was intuitive for me. Then again, my profession is
about solving problems and puzzles. Thank you for your compliments and for the
video. I think the video will give all of us confidence should it happen to
anyone else.

I really do look forward to the new items coming later in the year.

Kind Regards, Regina

Oh, yes I have a collection, and you haven't seen the Ellowyne's!
So how, though I have kept the doll's to about 20. Same as the number of shoes
in my closet. ;)
I have sold some dolls to get others, so a rotation is going on. I haven't been
able to part with my Vita's. I have six.

My Mother and Aunt both kept one doll from our trip. My mother actually liked a
Tonner NYCB ballerina( I bought her at the swap/sales room) and my Aunt kept her
Sapphire Vita.

I am already trying to save the money for the vita's and Zhonti's that are
posted and due in August. I definitely would like a Zhonti but a vacillate
between Executive Decision and
Midnight Collection. It's the face makeup of course. One day the business day
wear is perfect and the next Midnight Collection in Red with edginess is just
perfect. I am leaning to the Midnight Collection why not go for fabulous, if I
have to choose?

Of the Vita Goth--It's love you to pieces, if for no other reason I love those
boots in every color. I have them in red and silver so why not black? And then
the Vita with the Goth long dress(red and black) and rooted hair. I do like her
alot. And Expression Portrait....I love that updo wig!I hope that some items
will be offered separately as well as in sets. At least, wigs and shoes would be
very nice to have.

Oh and the outfits! I like them all!

Cheers, Regina

20 sounds like a nice round number.   Have you considered multiples of 20 such as 40?   I try to remain flexible about which ones will reside here.   I do want to get Zhonti.   I would like to see the sculpt up close.   I hope that the Zhonti sculpt will be available in light skin tones eventually as I can really envision an Asian repaint with that sculpt.

I agree that it is impossible to part with Vita!  And that's just as it should be. ;)

I have to decide on the new items as well.  The temptations exceed the budget, but I've got to put on my thinking cap and make choices.  I also keep thinking how nice it would be to have a MALE in the line !  It would be super to have all that great articulation in a good-looking guy.   *hint*

Think about this: how many fashion dolls DON'T have this feature? (All the other
dolls!) Once you over extend a leg on those other dolls - it's broken! This is
a fantastic feature and yet another reason WHY WE NEED URBAN UPGRADE BODIES FOR
OUR OTHER DOLLS!

YAY HORSMAN! VIVA LA VITA! YOU GO KEN, DORINDA, AND KURT!

I know I voted for the right one!  There was only one "Vita" in the whole group.
Loved her outfit! I checked the numbers 3 times!!!  Do you think we could vote
more than once?

Hi!   I used Vita!   I think she is the only one.   If you liked something else better, that is OK too.   Several are VERY good.   Thanks to everyone who supports the competitions and don't forget to play the games.   There are prizes.

Hugs to all,
Terry

Yipee!  I got the right one!=D>
And I honestly thought that was the best outfit (and a BEAUTIFUL repaint).  That little jacket was just wonderful.
I hope all the Urban Legends will vote!  Great job, Terry!

It's not too late to cast your vote in the Pop Culture Challenge at Couture Doll
Shops and to play the games. The link to the competition is:

You can find a link to the games page from there. Thank you!, Thank you!,
Thank you! I am told that there is currently a three way tie, so every vote
counts. Have some fun and play the games if you have the time.

The best part of eye candy is, you can have all you want and it doesn't go to
your waist. Take some time and look over these entries in the Couture Doll
Design Challenge. You will find our star among the entries.
