Description

Updikeana is dedicated to the discussion and study of John Updike and his remarkable body of writings.

John Hoyer Updike (1932- ) is perhaps the greatest living American Man of Letters. Though most famous for his novels such as the sexy Couples, the praised Rabbit series, or novels like The Witches of Eastwick which crossed the pop-cultural barrier into fame as a Hollywood blockbuster, Updike is widely heralded as an unequaled master of prose who spins intellectual yet sensual masterpieces of cultural introspection. A multi-talented, very prolific writer with over 50 books of fiction, poetry, plays, and nonfiction to his name, Updike is one of the most erudite, discussed, celebrated, award-winning (including two Pulitzer Prizes, National Book Award, National Book Critics Circle Award, Rosenthal Award, and the Howells Medal), and therefore important modern American authors.

Join us to read, debate, critique, study, or learn all there is to learn about this modern literary master, John Updike.
