This is the not-yet-official eGroup of the University of the Philippines College Cebu (UPCC) High School Class of 1984.
Around 2:00 o'clock in the early morning of 23 November 2000, at the RepublicOfCebu, Zenen Renan Dalisay, halfway through his 14th bottle of San Mig Light, was waxing poetic about the need to come home; the need to tie loose ends, to resolve the -- in his words "unifinished stories" -- of the Class of 1984, and that of its members, boys and girls. More importantly, he said, the unfinished stories of boys "with" girls. So the idea of an eGroup came up.
Hey, I'm only doing this because the class nerds seem to be unavailable. So stop blaming me. I said, stop blaming me. Renan Dalisay feels we're ripe for a real reunion (as opposed to those failed, poorly-attended attempts at one). By his calculations, it's our 20th year. So we need to track down those perennial absentees, myself included, and the fastest way, it seems these days, is through the Internet. I don't know why the "Internet" should be spelled with a capital "I", but that's not really relevant here now, is it? I guessed so.
So why am I doing this? Because on his 15th beer, Renan Dalisay was insisting we had a batchmate named Rosebud Coyuca, or something like that. I don't seem to remember anyone by that name, or anything that even remotely sounds like it. So, to prove Renan Dalisay wrong, I had to put up this eGroup, the class nerds notwithstanding.
So, please join. Let's prove Renan Dalisay wrong. Better yet, if you know the whereabouts of our batchmates, especially their e-mail addresses: (1) POST them here; and (2) INVITE them to join as members. We were 100 or so when we graduated. We're targetting to invite, and sign on as members, half that number before the end of the year, or before Erap resigns, whichever comes first.
Knowing our batch, I have to add: IT'S ABSOLUTELY FREE!!!
Sign up and sign on,
Pablo John Garcia
