The UP Alumni Association, Inc. (Visit http://www.upalumni.ph/ )

The UPAA is a private organization of UP alumni and the mother chapter of all UP Alumni Chapters. The UPAA provides support to the University by raising needed funds and by establishing scholarships, professorial chairs and fellowships, as well as other activities. All UP Alumni (including former students who have earned at least 60 academic units in UP) are qualified to be members of the UPAA.

UPAA History

At the suggestion of then UP President Murray Bartlett, a meeting was called on March 15, 1913 by College of law Dean George B. Malcolm to form an alumni association. Manuel A. Roxas (LLD'13; LLD'48) drafted its Constitution and By-laws and the name agreed upon was "University of the Philippines Alumni Association." It was inaugurated on April 2, 1913 at the Hotel de France with Victor Sevilla (MD'10) as first president.

The association's primary objective was to unite the alumni for "mutual support and benefit in order to see more effectively that their Alma Mater may gloriously accomplish the ends for which it was established." It was incorporated and registered with the SEC in 1925.

UP

U.P. is considered as the top university in the Philippines.
