
Student Volunteer Connections
SVC PROGRAM
COORDINATOR
Term: May 1st to August 31st, 2007 (37.5 hours per week, full-time)
September 4th to December 14th, 2007 (15 hours per week, part-time, 12 required in the office)
January 7th to April 11th, 2008 (15 hours
per week, part-time, 12 required in the office)
Hours: 1,125 hours total
Salary: $12,645.00 (rate of pay, $11.24/hour)
Supervisor: SVC Board of Directors
Training:
· Required to receive 15 hours of training prior to April 13th, 2007
· Receive an honorarium of $150.00 for training
Responsibilities (Summer Semester)
· Network with community and on-campus groups with the intention of seeking out new and updating old volunteer opportunities (through our monthly email list and other means)
· Enter opportunities onto and maintain iCAN web database
· Sit on external committees as needed
· Maintain and update resource centre
· Organize and set up volunteer fair
· In the first two months, coordinate with Click
Signs to develop professional resource fair material, including display stands, pamphlets, display board, etc.
· On- and off-campus iCAN promotion
· On- and off-campus iCAN orientation sessions
· Promote SVC through the media, including articles, SVC radio show etc.
· General SVC promotion – resource fairs, RA training, Ontarion ‘frosh guide’, and Fall Orientation Week
· Maintain regular communication with the CSA and other on-campus groups
· Work with other campus organisations to promote and support volunteering initiatives (ex. Project Serve, Meal Exchange, etc.)
· Communicate regularly with the Volunteer Centre of Guelph-Wellington
· Provide students with volunteer referrals
· Participate in volunteer activities in the community as often as possible
· Meet with community group representatives in person
· Oversee all staff and volunteer duties, in collaboration with the board of directors hire staff, and promote volunteerism on-campus as necessary
· Book reservations for events, including the volunteer fairs
· Investigate the feasibility of hosting the 2nd Annual Positive Social Action Conference with the CSA and other on-campus organizations, including Citizenship and Community Engagement, OPIRG, etc.
· With the bookkeeper, help to maintain the financial records of Student Volunteer Connections, Inc. (including fundraising and grant proposal writing as appropriate)
· Ensure corporation forms are duly filed in
coordination with the board of directors
· Create and implement programming that promotes volunteerism and raises awareness around volunteer issues
· Recruit volunteers to assist with the completion promotions and events responsibilities, as needed
· Coordinate training for incoming staff and volunteers at the end of August

· Coordinate and delegate tasks for Fall/Winter Volunteer Fairs to other staff and volunteers
· Coordinate regular staff meetings and establish office schedule for staff and volunteers
· If determined to be feasible, host the 2nd Annual Positive Social Action Conference
· Organize staff and board training where appropriate
· Work with other campus organisations to promote and support volunteering initiatives (ex. Project Serve, Meal Exchange,
etc.)

Student Volunteer Connections
SVC PROGRAMMING ASSISTANT

Hours: 300 hours total
Salary: $3,372 (rate of pay: $11.24/hour)
Positions: Two (2) Available
Supervisor: SVC Program Coordinator
Training:
· Required to receive 10 hours of training prior to April 13th, 2007
· Receive an honorarium of $100.00 for training
Responsibilities:
· Attend training session at the end of August to learn office procedures
· Maintain office cleanliness
· Maintain day-to-day operations of SVC office (i.e. answering phone, mail-outs, photocopies)
·
Maintain, update and promote SVC volunteer resources
· Promote services, programs and events through various methods - on and off campus media outlets, paid SVC advertising (in consultation with the SVC Coordinator), creating and maintaining displays and banners
· Enter opportunities onto, maintain and promote the iCAN web database – on and off campus
· Participate in volunteer activities in the community as often as possible
· Communicate with the CSA and other on campus groups for promotional purposes
· Promote volunteer appreciation events and award ceremonies
· Book reservations for events
· Maintain and update SVC web site
· Organize one-time volunteer events, as requested by the Program Coordinator and decided by staff
·
Promote one-time, occasional volunteer opportunities, and volunteerism to students
· Collaborate on various one-time and service-learning based opportunities with Student Life
· Organize and implement the Fall & Winter Volunteer Fairs and associated tasks as requested by the Program Coordinator
· Assist Program Coordinator with the completion of tasks and projects as required
· Attend staff and board training sessions
· Work with other Programming Assistant to implement programs
·
Assist the Program Coordinator in recruitment and training of office volunteers
Collective Responsibilities (of all staff):
