Description
Universalism is an emerging post-sectarian form of spirituality based on belief in Love as the Supreme Power pervading the universe, the promise of universal salvation through the outworking of karmic justice according to a benevolent divine plan, and the hope of ecumenical reconciliation as humanity moves beyond the limitations and divisions of Fundamentalism. Bound to no single religious tradition but drawing from the insights of various spiritual and philosophical sources throughout history, Universalists seek to come to know the foundational truths of reality that transcend dogma and orthodoxy. We strive to apply this knowledge toward living a positive way of life, based on compassion, respect for freedom of thought and conscience, and appreciation for the varied contributions made to the human spiritual quest by thinkers, mystics, and saints from cultural and religious traditions around the world, both past and present.
This group is for study and discussion of spirituality, philosophical and religious issues from a Universalist perspective, and to introduce seekers of truth to the ideas and ideals of Universalism. This is also a place where people who do not fit into any standard doctrinal box promoted by today's religions, churches and denominations, or who consider themselves "spiritual but not religious," can come together for friendly fellowship, prayer, sharing thoughts and helping each other live a more enlightened and meaningful life.
Religious fundamentalists are prohibited from using this group for proselytizing or debating. Personal attacks and spam are strictly prohibited. Anyone is free to read this list to learn about Universalism (including fundamentalists, atheists, and adherents of any religion), but posters must demonstrate a sincere desire to use this group for mature spiritual exploration and support, rather than fruitless argumentation.
Note: This group is not affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Association.
