Goal: A bold vision (faith is needed) and most loving and kind outreach (striving to reflect Abdu'l Baha's example, as defined in Ruhi sequence) to combine the 3 elements of the Institute process with a simple, supportive Social and Economic Development project.
Plan:
*Start with small group of friends who already have unity and have worked well together: (for example, Susan, Lily, Sarah, Denise, Fares, Diana, Sarekha, Gordon Gullet's daughter, a few others who are experienced and enthusiastic living in our cluster, plus Sasson, Bishow, and Ruth (who also serves as our advisor)
*Brainstorm and then consult about social problems faced by immigrants and many of us Baha'is too) living in the Bay Area (eg. Addictions, domestic violence, victims of crime in general, isolation, depression, stress, prejudices, poverty, abuse, lack of adequate health care, lack of jobs, easy familiarity, sexualization of children, family dysfunction, divorce, impact of media, financial challenges, etc.
*Consult about community development which INCLUDES both the Institute process AND offers support for transforming problems as described above, related to social and economic development.
*Consult about inviting 4-15 immigtants or more to take part in a community development project (ideally Nepalese, Bhutanese, and immigrants facing similar challenges from other diverse cultural backgrounds.
*Social and economic development ideas could include:
-Forming support groups
-Strategic planning training
-Celebrating and honoring diversity of music, dance, language, arts, crafts
-Empowering women
-Cultural and Religious virtues for family life
-Health and nutrition, integrating traditional foods and herbs.
-Education
-Parenting
-Entrepreneurial training
(all should honor and draw out existing successful practices that are from their cultures
