Jack's elusive Grail.

"After a man has acquired wealth, he then seeks power."

Jack's lust for power is propelling him along a vainglorious course. Panday,
once his vehicle, is now the misperceived obstacle in his path. His goal
has become obscured by his blurred vision.

Having gone from zero to self styled hero, Jack now covets the role of Nero.
And in his passion, he is now fiddling while the country burns in the fires
of crime and savagery.

Yet, he is torn by Panday's clear history which despite his ambitions he
cannot deny.

Here is a man he sees to be the fit scapegoat for his agenda. And his
dilemma is how can he accomplish it all?

Jack should cast a glance at Panday's resilience and almost charmed life and
prepare for the failure of his dreams.

Despite his international walking among kings and statesmen, Jack has not
seen the difference between sincere humility and counterfeit nobility.

For sure, Jack would have laboured to discredit Gandhi's efforts as futile
had he been his peer. The ultimate goal would have seemed too distant and
elusive by Gandhi's methods. Jack's wealth would have preferred the British
way of force.

When the time comes for Panday to pass from this earthly plane, he would
smile at the future. Jack would still be fighting for worldly power.

"There are many events in the womb of time that are yet to be delivered."
And to quote the bard further, "There are many things that are not dreamt of
in your science."

Jack's science does not perceive beyond the immediate present. He has
convinced himself that his paid retinue loves him and believes in him. He
simply cannot believe that others truly love Panday and believe in his
leadership.

Panday, Jack battle may end in courts

Anna Ramdass aramdass@...

Monday, July 13th 2009

The bitter ongoing battle between Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday and
Chaguanas West MP Jack Warner could possibly find itself in the courts.

Warner yesterday told the Express that he intends to attend the party's
parliamentary caucus and executive meeting at the Rienzi Complex this
Wednesday and legal action would be taken against any move to expel him from
the UNC.

He said if all members walk out as they did last Wednesday he does not
intend to leave. Warner said the meeting cannot be held anywhere else as the
minutes would not be legal.

He made his intention to take legal action clear on Saturday night at a
public meeting in Mayaro where he said: "A little birdie told me this
evening that Bas spoke with the media and gleefully told them that at last
he has Jack Warner where he wants him and that he will move for my expulsion
from the party based on the way I voted on Friday. I simply want to ask Bas
if he does not have enough court problems on his hands. Let him try it, try
it, Bas."

"If you see how I trembled in my shoes when Mr Panday said I would face
expulsion. In fact I am trembling still," he told the Express in a sarcastic
tone.

Panday said Warner's move to vote on the Securities Bill, 2009 at the last
Parliament sitting was against party lines and action can be taken against
him. Both Panday and Siparia MP Kamla Persad-Bissessar said Warner had a
deal with the PNM.

"I don't have to be a PNM agent in this country. There is nothing the PNM
can give me that I don't already have. My salary from the Parliament is one
dollar and I give my money to the poor. On Tuesday I am giving out nine
scholarships in my constituency. I have bought no SUV, no vehicle free from
Government tax, so what can they give me?" said an upset Warner.

"I have gone to 161 countries, I have met kings, I have met paupers, I have
met tonnes of people, never in my life have I ever met anyone in my life as
ungrateful as Mr Panday. And, Mr Panday is being ridiculous, there has to be
a limit," he said.

Warner added that just yesterday he journeyed through 27 constituencies on
the Caravan for Change initiative and throughout there have been calls for
Panday to go.

"There is now a national outcry for Mr Panday to step down. Mr Panday has
done well, he has contributed. Nobody wants him to walk off into the sunset,
Mr Panday can become an elder statesman. Mr Panday is destroying his legacy.
Why doesn't he step down? How many more boos must he get?" said Warner.

"Tomorrow we are going from Carenage to Arima, all through the country the
cry is the same. Mr Panday can never again be Prime Minister of this
country," he continued.

Warner dared Panday to show the support he has, "If Mr Panday is in touch
with the grassroots, let him call a public meeting and see how many people
would come out. I am calling one on Thursday, let him call one afterward in
Couva North and see how many people would come out."
