Hi.

As your father was born in or about 1893 I guess a start would be the
1901 Census for England & Wales, provided you have his full name you
should find him even though he is a JONES.  I am sure that with
Smith, Williams, Evans & Davies it must be the hardest to research
especially as people had no imagination in those days when naming
their offspring.... So I find "John Jones" to be a monumental thorn
in my research lol.

Hi all.

Depending on interest UKJonesConnections could be the first Genealogy
Group to have it's own Video/Chat Conference room where all matters
regarding our research and Genealogy generally could be discussed,
photo's webpages shared etc.

Should you be interested the cost is £1.00/$2.00 per month per person
participating.

The Conference software is stable, easy and secure to use and comes
with great features.  It is miles ahead of Yahoo Chat, MSN and other
systems like Paltalk.

The Conference room will be of no use unless at least 10 people want

I don't know if this will help but what actually got me started with
my grandfather(he had died back when my mother was only 4), was
since he was buried within an hour's drive I went to the cemetery,
they carried the newspaper obit. and his birthdate and place,I
looked up on the bmd for his vol and page, I then sent for a copy of
his birth and gotten both of his parents names, i have looked in
census and with help by posting, have now also gotten a copy of my
greatgrandparents marriage certicate, I can tell you this is very
slow process and since I am in the USA and his family is from Wales
I have spent hours just researching but it feels like you struck
gold anytime you actually find something new. plus ancestry.com has
alot of different family trees or searches that may help.--- In

sarah jane jones abt 1864, father name john jones, married thomas wood
27 nov 1886, marriage date is the only real fact I have, I have
received a certified copy of entry of marriage that stated her
father's name. along with her age at the time of marriage, I think
sarah was born in welshpool but I can not find birth record to back
this up, any information on sarah or her parent ect... would really be
appricated.

If you have the Regiment that your father was in then start there...
They will have at least some detail of where he was born, exact
(hopefully he didn't fib) birthdate, whether married, next of kin etc.

If you have the regiment then just a search online using the
regiments name as your search term, it should bring them up.

Hello Laura.

I don't live in the US so can't help personally but I do have a
littloe suggestion.

If you list the Names (Comma seperated) then your query would be
easily read.  You should also allow yourself the time to give as much
accurate information as youm can... Genealogy takes a long time....
Our Ancestors are a long time gone and will be there no matter how
long it takes us to find them :-)
