Myself and some others are currently on a 'save juggler.net' project, but I
can't give any timescale for when it might be back - sorry about this.
Hopefully in a week or two.

I have a set of knives for sale on eBay at the moment, which in my
opinion are infinitely better than the Dube ones, if not just
because they;re so much more comfortable to juggle. Oh, and they
probably wont cost £135 a set.

Just thought I would anounce (on behalf of the commitee) the date of
the 5th Leeds Juggling Festival

The 19th of March, a fortnight before the BJC and just the right time
to get you in the mood for Perth.

If you check the newly updated idjb conventions listing
http://www.jugglingdb.com/events/index.php?country=222
you might notice a potential problem with a potential clash with the
excellent Sheffcon2005. Having talked to Cat she kindly informed us
that their booking is a provisional one, and they hopefully should be
able to move theirs to an earlier date. (We dont have the same
flexibility unfortunately :( )

Further details to be released as soon as they become available but
you can bet it involve donuts somehow.

Thankyou for your time and thanks to Cat and the Sheffield/Teapot lot.

hi alan,

thanks for the reply and apologies for coming back to you so late!

i won't be wanting these clubs as they are not what i thought they
were (i was looking particularly for glo staffs).

if i ever get good enough, i'd like to buy myself some aerotech p2
clubs.

but in a horrible twist of logic i have set myself the target of
getting a 30 catch run of 5 clubs before i let myself invest in these
beautiful props - which sets me up for a layout of over half a grand
when i reach that target!

methinks that day may never come...

thanks again,

cole.

Leeds Juggling Festival 2005 has been postponed.
We hope our new provisional date will be filling in that quiet space we
always seem to find in November.
In the meantime, we shall be enjoying all the other Yorkshire
conventions in the new year and spring (York, Bradford, Sheffield) and
hope to see you there, or perhaps at Birmingham.. and Nottingham.. and
Glasgow.. and Perth...?! :-)

PLEASE don't reply to me directly about this, but go through the website -
cheers, Charlie.

---------------------

Hi all,

As some of you will know, there have been various problems with the
Juggler.net service over the last few months, mainly due to the fact that
Patrick Clyne, who set up the service, has become far too busy to continue
to run it. A few of us here in the U.K. have got together to try and help
sort things out and we're nearly ready to launch the new system. Our
long-term plan is that an international group of jugglers will run the
system, thus sharing the workload. Our collective thanks should go to
Patrick for all his hard work over the last few years.

In the next 24 hours Juggler.net will move to a new hosting service and this
will hopefully improve the responsiveness of email forwarding and website
forwarding. We're transferring all the current redirection information from
the old service without changing anything, including any POP email accounts.
It should take no more than 24 hours for the change to propagate across the
Web - during this period you may find that your redirection service works
intermittently or not at all. You will receive two further emails from us
after things have settled down to check that your email redirection is
working.

Once the new system is live, details of how to change your existing
redirection details will be available on www.juggler.net . Please bear with
us while we work out any teething problems; we're trying to concentrate on
getting things working at a basic level first, before we look at any
advanced features.

The changeover and subsequent hosting costs have been made possible through
the support of Grip Circus Theatre and BJC2k. Our thanks to them and to all
the volunteers who are helping out with the move.

Best wishes

Any plans to make it a subscription service? Wasn't it the case that
having it as a free service was giving Patrick many problems with
spammers and other abusers taking advantage of it?

There are no plans to add anything new at the moment, we're just
concentrating on getting email and web forwarding working (which for many
people it wasn't) to start with.

Spam filtering costs money as you usually need your own server. This is more
than we can handle at the moment. We will however be looking at this in the
future.

If you're being plagued by spam, there are some hints on the website about
ways to help.

Have a look at http://www.juggler.net/email.shtml for some advice on
how to limit the problem.

> Wasn't it the case that having it as a free service was giving
> Patrick many problems with spammers and other abusers taking
> advantage of it?

When Patrick first moved to the previous server, there were some
problems with his server being used as an open relay. From what
I remember, this is because of a misconfiguration on the server.

The current setup cannot be used as an "open relay" to send spam,
and if it can be - then we can and will take the hosting provider
to task over it.

Whilst the Juggler.Net server should never be the originating
source of spam, if a spammer already has your juggler.net address
(eg if you've used the address to post on newsgroups, or if it has
appeared on the internet anywhere at any time), and sends a mail
to it, juggler.net will forward it.

Juggler.Net addresses are no worse a spam magnet than any other
email address. It's just that most of us have had them longer
than any other address, and have historically not been as careful
about who we give them to.

As Charlie has explained, server side spam filtering costs money,
and takes time to set up and administer. We're not resourced for
it just yet (It's been a battle to get this far!)

Your choices at the moment are:

a) Dump your juggler.net address (which will get rid of the spam,
but also get rid of all the legitimate mail sent to that address
from those friends and family that don't have an alternative
contact address for you)

b) Forward it on to a gmail or a similar account that does client
side spam filtering for you (free, but depending on how you read
your email possibly a little inconvenient)

c) Investigate either a mail client that does client side
filtering (such as thunderbird) or possibly a plugin for your
existing mailclient.

For the mac, <http://tinyurl.com/3pzyf> seems to be a useful list
of utilities that will do spam filtering for you. (the link is
to the google cache of the page as the original seems to
be down at the moment, but most of the links are still live)

Personally I'd go for option c) - although if you come up with a
recommended client side filter for the mac, please let us know so
that we can add a link to it to http://www.juggler.net/email.shtml

Dur: 29 m ... Documentaire

unique.

The Rolling Stones created rock history with this legendary concert in
London on 11th December 1968. With John Lennon and Yoko Ono; Eric Clapton,
The Who, Marianne Faithful, Jethro Tull and Taj Mahal.

27/12 20.15 Arte France Au Cirque ! Attention molosses

I'm just wondering which airport it would be best to fly to.

Which is easier - travelling to Perth from Edinburgh or Glasgow
airports?

How far is Perth train station from the site?

Any recommendations? Is there anyone from the area able to scan a
train timetable to put online? I'm finding the various online journey
planners a little useless...

Acording to the AA route finder it is .9 miles 2 min by car. I think
this may be a bit short. Unfortunatly the map I have does not show
the scale, I will try to find a better one and post direction etc on
the convention site.

Airport: I know Glasgow better than Edinburgh, but here goes. You
may land at the falowing.

Prestwick: It has a stion at the airport so getting from Pretwick to
glasgow is very easy, you then have to walk, bus taxi from Glasgow
Central to Queen St. This is about a 1/2 mile walk in the city
centre. From there you get the train to Perth. If you are flyoing
Ryain Air get you ticket to Perth on the Prestwick train You get
half price rail with the bording details.

Glasgow Airport: Get the bus to buchannon St (it may go to dirct to
queen st station not sure, will find out) From Buchannon st walk to
Queen St 5 min walk. Train to Perth or yopu could get the bus from
Buchannon st bus staion.

Edinburgh: You get the bus to St Andrews bus deport in Edinburgh,
(it may go to waverly not sure will find out) walk to wavely train
station. Get train to Perth you should also be able to get the bus
to Perth from St Andrews.

The best web site for travel info is travel line the link is on the
convention site. I will try to update the info on the convention
site in the next few days.

Hope this has helped

The name Kaleigh Grainger is known to many unicyclists and jugglers around
the UK if not the world. She is one of the UK's top freestyle unicycle
riders and the
daughter of Steve Grainger, who organises most of the UK's "Uni-meet"
events. However, what most people won't know is that Kaleigh's Mother,
Elaine, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer several years ago and has been
battling Cancer ever since. On the 11th of December,2004, Kaleigh informed
us that her mother had been taken into hospital again with Secondary Cancer
of the Liver. Sadly, her mother died shortly after on the 19th December,
2004.

Before her mother died, Kaleigh said that she wanted to try and help other
people in the same situation, hoping that she could help ease the suffering
of Cancer patients and their families in the future. She asked for help in
raising money for Cancer Research UK.

So we are.... On the 7th January Roger Davies from Unicycle.com will be
riding some 750 miles from Nanning to Kunming in Southern China. The ride
will be self-financed by Roger and is organised by Roz Beste from Hong Kong.
It will be completed on a 36" Coker unicycle both on and off-road.

Like so many people who have lost loved ones to this illness, Kaleigh is
determined to try and make a difference, please help us to make a difference
to other peoples lives where Cancer Research UK try to ease the suffering
and loss for the millions of people world wide. Sponsor Roger Davies in his
endeavour to raise money to donate to Cancer Research UK.

If you would like to help you can donate online on a Donation Page:
http://www.justgiving.com/unicycleacrosschina.

Thanks

Roger

Please *DON'T* forward this message. It's old news. Jonathan, it's generally
good form to check the sources of something before clogging up the web with
it. A simple Google would have sufficed.

Anything that arrives in my inbox containing the phrase

goes into the bin unread anyway, as it's almost invariably spam or a virus.
