Hi Glyn,

Only 2 manufacturers of tightropes that I know about are Arianne
(www.unicycle.fr) and an American manufacturer who retails in this country
through Firetoys. That being said, my own tightrope was obviously made by
someone else because it is all one unit and if you know a good welder you should
be able to get a similar one made. I can e-mail you a picture if you want it or
try to bring it to Bedford Juggling Club one of these days.

kind regards

Nigel

If only there was some place on the web that had detailed plans and
construction notes for a 4m wire that costs a fraction of the price of
an Ariane to build, fits in the back of an ordinary car, and has been
built, tried and tested by a variety of people.

Oh wait, there is! http://jay-linn.co.uk/tightwires/
<http://jay-linn.co.uk/tightwires/> - the page is ancient and has not
been updated for many years so I don't know if some of the links still
work, but it should be enough to get you thinking.

Mail me if I can help at all.

Looks dangerous to me. IMO there's *nothing* more important than
learning to fall off forwards and land on your feet. I can't see that
anyone's going to learn that lesson when they've got a zimmer frame in
the way.

Mind you, it's not as if they're actually going to learn to ride on that
surface anyway...

A portuguese clown I met at at the recent Danish Clown Festival was a little
unhappy wih the collapse of the economy. He lives in the Azores and used to get
750 euros for a 45 minute show(after tax)

He even hosted magic and clown conventions at the portuguese taxpayers expense.
They'd be flown in all expenses paid.

It's all changed now .. No money he kept repeating.

One of the entertainers I know who just chased money in the good times.

Pre reg closes at he end of the month so get your tickets now while you
remember.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.hawth.co.uk or if you want to avoid the
"Transaction fee" ring the box office on 01293 553636 and collect them on the
day.

As well as all the usual workshops, shows etc, new for this year is outside
trapeze workshops on Sunday, these are expected to be very popular and will
probably need to be pre booked with preference going to those who have purchased
tickets in advance, so get yours now. Watch this space for more details.

I've just had some new bunting delivered for my outdoor circus workshops.

What do you all use to hold your bunting up?

I've got some electic fencing poles. They do look rather ugly though.

Jellybean has some nice white poles pictured on his website

http://www.jellybeanjuggling.com/gallery.htm

The bunting and the poles seem to add to the overall impression of the workshops
in the photos. What do you think?

I must ask Dave one question though. These poles, are they ... cheap?

Kev, sorry not to have been repling to you but have been away.Firstly the shade
was mine but too much hassle as it took at least 2  to put up!! The poles are
just painted brush handles!! You can buy them in 2 thicknesses from any hardware
shop for about £1.00. The thicker ones last longer.I sharpen them to a point to
knock them into the ground. They are also useful for impaling naughty
children!!!!!  Good luck....Dave

When you layout your items for people to help themselves for practice which do
you use?

I'm thinking of getting a table for my diabolos + spinning plates. The continual

I think it's more a case of tempting those who can make them with a good
price to do so.

In this world of mass production we've come to expect everything on the
cheap.

Indeed only a few people would be interested. Those few together could
provide a worthwhile order for somebody to make.

Thanks Jonathon. I need 'those engineers who enjoy such a project'.

Like others I have a 20" unicyle bike with twin crossbar and back wheel able
to rotate in both a horizontal and vertical plane. A bit big for most kids
so would be nice to have a smaller version.

I wonder who made these 20" ones?

There are people who will make a bike if you design itM. Steam fairs are a
good source of those engineers who enjoy such a project

I think it's more a case of tempting those who can make them with a good
price to do so.

In this world of mass production we've come to expect everything on the
cheap.

Indeed only a few people would be interested. Those few together could
provide a worthwhile order for somebody to make.

This is an announcement from Amie of BJC Southend.

Hi Jugglers,

We hope those of you who attended the EJC had a great time. If you're
wondering where your next big juggling fix is going to come from, then look no
further! Plans for BJC 2012 are shaping up and we're pleased to be hosting it in
Southend-on-Sea. It's a seaside town with miles of sandy sea front, where you
can walk (or unicycle) along the world's longest pleasure pier.

This year we're planning a dedicated track of performance skills
workshops. It's early days yet, but we're hoping to be able to cover
all kinds of subjects, from movement through slapstick to street
performance. Of course, that's in addition to all the usual workshops
on juggling, diabolo and tea drinking.

As usual, the BJC will be playing host to the British Young Juggler of
the Year competition; if you think you might like to enter, do please
email Ieuan: byjoty@....

It might be hard to believe, but it was all the way back in 1988 when
Charlie Holland and Max Oddball ran the first ever British Juggling
Convention. In 2012, we'll be hosting the 25th BJC. In honour of the
occasion, we're planning a black tie and silver themed party.

For the Saturday night, our show production team is hard at work
putting together a top notch public show, with jugglers that should
impress even jugglers.

You can pre-register at our website http://bjc2012.co.uk. Prices are as follows:

Early pre-reg (this year): £75 or £45 for children (11-15 inclusive).
Late pre-reg (early next year): £85 or £55 for children.
On the door: £95 or £65.

Children under 11 get in to the main event for free, but children
needing their own seat for the public show will have to buy a show
ticket at £7.

Watch this space for more announcements!

Hope to see you in April,

Amie
Team BJC 2012
