Hello rec.jugglers and clickers,
The new tricklists, format and videos for next year's British Kendama Open (at
the BJC) are now out.
We've gone for the Japanese-style knockout system for the Advanced division this
year, with players facing off in pairs on a randomly-pulled trick. Hopefully
this should ramp up the tension and fun for the audience (and the competitors?!)

Hi all,
Thanks to everyone who came along to MJC this year and made it such a great
event.
When clearing up afterwards, we came across an abandoned pair of Birkenstock
sandles and some white socks. If you would like to claim these, then please get
in touch.
Hope to see you all next year!

I'm going to get stilt trosers for the 7-11 year olds made for my circus
workshops.
I'm after traditional cotton stripe material. Black/White, Red/White, Red/Yellow
- anything I suppose with two alternating colours - thick stripes.
Should make good photos for the teachers/playworkers etc
If you know any suppliers, do let us know.

Click click, one and all!
Just over 10 days to go until the BKO.
http://kendama.tlmb.net/competition2011.html
Time to put that kendama next to your kettle, for your daily practises
of the STC and the tricklists! The new knockout format for the
Advanced division will make for more drama for audience and
competitors alike! Prizes are confirmed, and this year we have
sponsorship from Sunrise Kendamas (Main Event), Oddballs (Speed Trick
Challenge) and Kendama.cz (Best Trick) - Thank you guys! (Of course,
you competitors are all only in it for the glory, we know.)
There are rumours[1] that there will be an extra surprise division
this year. I wonder[2] what that'll be....
The 2011 competition format is the same for the BKO and the EKO, so
those of you who can't make it to the BJC this year can start your
training for Munich now:
http://kendama.tlmb.net/EKO2011.html
Want to win? Here's how:
http://kendama.tlmb.net/howiwon.html
Meanwhile, Donald Grant was bursting with enthusiasm, and persuaded me
that the world needed another English kendama book, so after a manic
few months of writing, illustrations and layouts, we can announce that
"Knees! Further adventures in kendama" is now released. Thicker, with
twice as many tricks as the first book, and for the same price. Get it
on ebay now, or from your local juggling supplier very shortly. Or at
the BJC. Details and sample pdf at:
http://kendama.tlmb.net/book2.html

Hi Glyn,
Only 2 manufacturers of tightropes that I know about are Arianne
(www.unicycle.fr) and an American manufacturer who retails in this country
through Firetoys. That being said, my own tightrope was obviously made by
someone else because it is all one unit and if you know a good welder you should
be able to get a similar one made. I can e-mail you a picture if you want it or
try to bring it to Bedford Juggling Club one of these days.
kind regards
Nigel

If only there was some place on the web that had detailed plans and
construction notes for a 4m wire that costs a fraction of the price of
an Ariane to build, fits in the back of an ordinary car, and has been
built, tried and tested by a variety of people.
Oh wait, there is! http://jay-linn.co.uk/tightwires/
<http://jay-linn.co.uk/tightwires/> - the page is ancient and has not
been updated for many years so I don't know if some of the links still
work, but it should be enough to get you thinking.
Mail me if I can help at all.

Looks dangerous to me. IMO there's *nothing* more important than
learning to fall off forwards and land on your feet. I can't see that
anyone's going to learn that lesson when they've got a zimmer frame in
the way.
Mind you, it's not as if they're actually going to learn to ride on that
surface anyway...
