Welcome to UGA-FOR-SALE. This group is for posting personal "for sale" and "wanted" messages for members of the University of Georgia community. It may be replacing the old UGAFORSALE mailing list and UGA.FORSALE newsgroup at some point in the future, so please be aware that we are adjusting as we grow.

Unlike the old list and group, this one is not paid for by the state government. Accordingly, it's OK to post ads for personal money-making ventures regardless of whether they meet the state's definition of a business activity.

Nonetheless, we don't want a free-for-all. The following kinds of messages are NOT welcome here:

* Ads from people who do not have a direct personal connection with The University of Georgia.

* Ads from businesses that are big enough to use commercial advertising media.

* Repetitive posting of the same ad.

* Obnoxious behavior or obnoxious ads (remember, we're your neighbors here).

* Anything prohibited by law. This includes "make money fast" chain letters.

* Announcements other than "for sale" or "wanted" ads or brief announcements of community events.

Also, if you are a University employee, we want to remind you that you still aren't allowed to run outside business activities or conduct outside solicitations from your desk or office. That's one of the conditions of employment, and you should check with your supervisor for guidance.
