Throughout the 80’s and into the 90’s, hundreds of students on the University of Florida VAX computer systems had personal accounts which they used to communicate with each other. We were known collectively as “vaxers”, chatting from Weil Hall, and later CSE, as well as from our dorms and homes. This was the time when computers had become accessible, but before the Internet became a social force. We had parties and social outings. We dated, eventually leading to multiple marriages. We inspired several Alligator articles. And above all, we formed life-long friendships.
This group is for the virtual reunion of people who were vaxers... active on the University of Florida VAX system, circa 80-95. (Bad pun intended.)
The first live reunion through this group was June 2005. Please be sure to join/keep an eye on this group for information about further reunions!
