Topic: Linksys: from Garage to a Global Player

Speaker: Victor Tsao, Co-founder of Linksys and Sr. Vice President
of Cisco Systems.

Sponsor: Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati

About this seminar
Imagining selling your company for half a billion dollars to an
industry giant, then being asked to stay on to run it, may well be
the American Dream for many people in the hi-tech age. Victor and
Janie Tsao made that dream come true.

Splendid haloes are around Linksys and Tsaos. Linksys, a consumer
and small business networking powerhouse with a dominant market
share, was on the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing private companies
in North America for seven consecutive times. By co-founding and
leading Linksys, Victor was named the "Entrepreneur of the
Year" in
2004. After selling Linksys to Cisco, Victor and Janie agreed to
stay and later were promoted to Senior Vice President of Cisco.

Their success was originated from their family business at their
garage in 1998, when they determined to be independent before
40. "Be fast, be frugal, be right" are the business
principles
upheld by Tsaos. You can learn more secrets of success from Mr.
Victor Tsao face-to-face in this seminar. His vivid and eloquent
speech will cover following questions:

- What are the huddles that Linksys has overcome?
- What are the advices for first-time entrepreneurs to avoid common
pitfalls?

Hi,

If you have a 3-4 year old daughter and you are close to Mountain View

We have a small family bi-lingual kindergarten located at Mountain View
(close to 101 and San Antonio). We are now recruiting two 3-4 year old
girls.

* One experienced Chinese teacher (full-time) and one English teacher
(part-time) taking care of maximum of 3 girls in the same age (3-4 year
old)
* The Chinese teacher has worked in Kindergarten in China for over 20
years (Very nice and responsilbe. If you see her, you will like her)
* Great opportunity for your child to learn Chinese songs, poems,
stories, games, crafts, lots of other fun stuff!
* We have live internet video camera. You can watch your child's
activity online at all times.
* Monthly charge $800-$1000
* Very flexible drop in and pick up hours
* Lunch, drinks, fruits and snacks are provided

Compared to those large kindergartens, kids in our kindergarten can get
much more attention from teachers, learn much better Chinese (Our
program includes learning 100 Tang Poems, 20 Chinese kid songs, 50
stories and very good Chinese skills). In addtion to basic English
skills, most importantly, your child will not get sick so often as they
do in large kindergartens.

The positions are limited and they fill up quickly. Please contact my
cell phone at 650-464-6176 soon for details.

Thanks!

To my fellow TsingHua Alumni,

I am forwarding the following message from our fellow alumni association in Atlanta, TAAG.  Mr. YUAN XiaoDong and his mother, Ms. WANG Zhaohui, were reported missing since last Friday, Sept. 23, 2005.  After a week tireless search efforts by family, friends and local authorities, their bodies were found yesterday morning at Mono City, CA, just outside the east gate of the Yosemite National Park.  The forwarded message is the announcement from Mr. Yuan's close friend and schoolmate in Atlanta.  You can find out more details by visiting TAAG's website, www.taag.org.

At this time, Yuan's family is flying into San Francisco tomorrow, and his wife and friends are working on the funeral arrangements.  Please contact either the above website, or e-mail/call me directly, if you wish to learn more about the situation or help out locally.

Let's take a moment to mourn the deceased and pray for the family.

Sincerely,
Eric Yang

Ps. Please forward this message to your TsingHua friends in the Bay areas, since the THAA-NC mailing has experienced some difficulties of sending out messages.

Dear Friends,

TAAG sadly announces the passing away of YUAN Xiaodong and his mother Ms.
WANG Zhaohui. The car found down the valley at the dangerous road right
outside of the east gate of Yosemite National Park has their bodies
inside. Yan, Baoshan, and June already arrived at the scene.

We mourn for the loss of our cheerful former leader and good friend and
his mother. Our thoughts and prayers are with Yan, the kids and all of the
YUAN and YU families. We thank all the concerned friends, alumni, Chinese
diplomats, rangers, sheriff deputies, other law enforcement and highway
petrol officers, government officials and news media reporters for their
effort, assistance, professionalism, kindness and generosity.

Xiaodong loves his wife, kids, family, friends, and our Alma Mater
Tsinghua University that brought us together. He devoted much time during
the years to TAAG and the Atlanta area local communities, especially
during the year from April 2004 to April 2005 when he served as the
president of this organization. He will be terribly missed. At this sad
moment, we recall the life Xiaodong more than just his dedication to
community services, but also the laughters, chats, his serving BBQ in
all-member picnic, and his famous spicy dish Sichuan Water Boiled Beef
that he always brought to potluck dinners before our board meetings.

May Xiaodong and Ms. Wang rest in peace.

LIN Wei, for TAAG
