The Tsalagi Group was originally founded on September 17, 1999, for the online study and discussion of Tsalagi gawonisdi (Cherokee language). Our parameters have changed over time and we are an now open to anything Tsalagi (or at least Amerind). In 2005 we decided to not only focus on language, but also culture, religion, history and anything related to “Cherokee”.
However, we are also a “group” … and so personal comments, and discussions will be tolerated and even welcomed, so long as they do not get too far off track.
We are a group consisting primarily of Cherokee mixed ancestry and we take that ancestry seriously and with pride. We are not a group of New Age “wannabes”.
If there are any questions, please contact the list owner or one of the moderators. Come join us! “Virtually” speaking, pull up a log, a rock or a chair, grab a bowl of stew from the pot and help yourselves to the campfire coffee, and let's have some fun learning about Tsalagi!
