This public mailing list is a new initiative for fostering public
awareness and support for historic preservation, smart planning
and sustainable development in and around the city of Treasure
Island, Florida. Current fads of "beautification" and
"revitilization" do not embrace Treasure Island's unique 20th
century Modernist architecture and qualities, and threaten to
quickly transform the island into just another beachfront town
with strip-mall architecture, no connection to its past, and no
sense of place or context. The city needs to preserve and reap
the maximal benefits from its unique, historic and irreplaceable
landmarks and feel; that is the positive future we are actively
promoting.
