Treasure Coast Funschoolers (TCF) is a support group for unschooling families in Martin and North Palm Beach Counties.
We meet to have fun! We go to beaches, parks, games rooms, bowling, canoeing, etc., to provide an opportunity for the kids to play together and for the Moms and Dads to visit. We rarely seek out events or venues that are “educational,” avoiding scripted activities as much as possible.
We try to go to places that are free to low cost, with an eye toward everyone’s budget.
We meet every week or two as interests, weather, and work and other schedules permit.
The members of TCF are all intelligent, loving families. We have a range of political and religious beliefs. While we do discuss subjects that touch on religion and politics, as well as parenting, family life, learning, and anything else that comes up, we do not promote or press a particular point of view. We do not proselytize in any way -- about religion, parenting, politics, or other hot-button areas. We express our opinions but are respectful of each others’ views and treat each other with kindness, care and thoughtfulness.
The exception to this open-mindedness, and perhaps the one thing we all do have in common, is unschooling. We are all unschoolers and we do not welcome attempts to dissuade us from this choice. We are open to discussing unschooling in all its varieties but not to arguments against unschooling or in favor of more structured schooling.
TCF was created to support one another in an out-of-the-mainstream choice and provide a safe, fun, loving environment for our children. Contact Deanne and Nance at treasurecoastfunschoolers-owner@yahoogroups.com with questions or for more information on joining us!
