Hi Gals,
Ellie, sorry I haven't written before now! We have been running ourselves
ragged
the last week. My daughter has been a little social butterfly, but I am
glad. We
do not live in a neighborhood, we are on 40 acres, so we have to get out for
playdates and such. I've also been working on several rooms in this woman's
house and am about to crash, I am tired! I will have to send you some
pictures
of the clothing I do, I don't have a scanner. I hope you are surviving the
heat,
we are but just barely!
Take care,
Heidi
Welcome Deb,
You will see that this is a very slow list, but there are three of us, (I am
in Missouri,
Ellie is in Arkansas, and Lesley who is in Scotland) who are trying to get it
back
on it's feet. I don't know who the list "owner" is, haven't heard from
anyone else.
So join our group and let's get this puppy moving again! My husband works on
Johnston Atoll disposing of the chemical weapons we have stockpiled there.
He is home every eight weeks for 12 days. How often does your husband return
home? I am a stay at home mom with a 6 1/2 year old, but I also do mural and
trompe l'oeil painting on the side. Love to hear more from you!
Heidi

Hi Ellie and Lesley and anyone else who might be out there!
Ellie, I live in Fordland, which is east of Springfield about 25 miles.
Teeny tiny
place but I like the feel of the country while still having Springfield
close
by.
Lesley/Ellie, sorry for the confusion, my husband is gone for 8 weeks and
home
for 12 days! So he is gone most of the time. I understand the "single
woman
out" syndrome. I feel like I've done that most of my married life and it
makes
me feel terribly uncomfortable also. Having my daughter is always a
blessing,
but by the same token, we never get a break from each other and that is hard
on both of us. What kind of gardens do you have and what type of profession
do you have? I am a painter. For awhile I did hand painted apparel,
selling
mainly to the boutiques in Florida. But I got burnt out on the repetition
of
painting
the my "popular" designs over and over. It was time to either go "big"
hiring many
people or else. I guess I wasn't ready for that. Now I work on painting
decorative
designs or murals in homes. I like that much better because it's always
something
different.
Well, write when you can!
Heidi
Good Morning All
Hope all is doing fine and dandy this hot, humid day in July, (of course, it
may not be hot where you are! All I can say is you're a lucky duck.)
You asked about my garden, well I have a fine vegetable garden which my
husband,Ken, tends to when he is home (every 2 weeks. I have been doing some
canning, actually more than I have ever done. Yesterday I canned green
tomatoes (Ken likes them fried). I am not crazy 'bout them, but he likes 'em
so you know how that goes... please our man. heehee I also made some dill
pickles for the first time,,canned 7qts.and 7 pts. My grandkids all like
dill pickles so they're happy.
My profession is:have a home office where I do some recruiting for the co.
Ken works for (JBHunt Transport), also do some re-selling of craft items.
Heidi, I would love to see your work,, sounds like something I may be
interested in.
How old is your daughter,Heidi? I'm sure she is a lot of company to you
while hubby is gone. Lesley, do you have any children? If you've already
told me I forgot,,sorry. My kids are all grown now and the house seems so
very quiet except when the grandkids come to visit.heehee
Didn't mean to talk your legs off. Write when you have time.

Hi Elle/Heide -
heide, did you mean your husband gets home two weeks after working ten weeks
or works two weeks and gets ten off, I am a bit confused. My husband has
been doing this for about three years or so at the moment and I am afraid I
work full time so it keeps me busy most of the time, weekends are a
nightmare cos we have two cars and a gardens so when he is away I have to
keep the house, the garden and the cars clean which is a nightmare working
long hours as well. Where are you from Heide
Elle, Ill try to get some pics for you if you want to see what it is like
here. When I joined I thought I was the only person here since there were
no messages, you proved me wrong, I was just about to give up here.
I get fed up with hubby being away for so long though and the evenings can
get a bit tiresome since most of our friends have kind of tailed off since
they are all couples and all work at home so if I have to go to anything it
is usually on my own which makes me feel like a bit of a goosebump most of
the time.
Anyway nice to hear from you both, speak to you soon hopefully.
Lesley
Hi Hiedi,
We are certainly close. I live down Hwy.71 in Arkansas,
south of Fort Smith. My husband would be green with envy
since you live in Missouri. We are thinking of living there when he retires.
I was born in a tiny little town outside of Webb City, called Carterville,,,
and lived out in the country near to
Nevada when I was a young child.I actually done most of my
childhood in Kansas and didn't move to Ark. until about 25
yrs.ago. I haven't lived any place exotic,,the closest I
came was I lived in California for a year,,couldn't wait to
get back home then. :)) Tell me where you are in MO.?
Till later. Ellie

Hi Ellie!
Are you in north or south Arkansas? We are neighbors (kind of) I am in
southern
Missouri, not far from Branson! Are you from Arkansas originally? I am
originally
from New Jersey and now, after many, many, moves I am here. Not sure if I'll
be
staying or not, haven't decided. Yes, we three can do anything, why not!
And maybe when others see what fun we're having they'll join in, you think?

Hi Lesley,
Boy, this list is slow, I hope we can get it going again. Are you living in
Scotland
now? My husband and I lived in Italy for three years while he was in the
military
and loved it, but unfortunately we never made it over to your country. We
very much
wanted to and I hope someday we still will. I don't know if you saw my into
or not.
My husband works on an island in the south pacific and is only home 8 weeks
out
of 10. A little tough at times. How long has your husband been working
away? We've been doing this for over five years and it is really getting
old. Write when you
can. Most of my activities this summer involve running my daughter around
to
her
many classes and play dates. Let me know what you do with your time.
Heidi
Good Morning All or should I say to you two, Heidi & Lesley.
This has got to be the slowest list I belong to. I can't figure out why
folks join if they are not going to participate, cany you?Gosh,, both of you
have traveled a lot. I just sit here in
Arkansas doing my hum-drum activities around the house and
yard. I would love to see some pictures of Scotland, Lesley, if
you would have time to submit them. sounds beautiful,,it's one of
the places I have always wanted to visit someday. I guess the three of us
can do most anything if it's just us three, right?
You two write if you have time. Ellie

Hiya - I am quite new too, I did post an intro but got no answers and the
other two messages I got were attachments and since I get digest I didn't
get them. I am from Scotland and hubbie works in Nigeria, mostly months on
with only a week off here and there, not often home and leaves me with a lot
to do.
I don't have any kids and we have been married for three years, together for
seven. He has been working away for the last three years so I have had a
long tome at home on my own.
Hope to hear more from you both soon.

Hi Ellie,
Welcome to the traveling hubby list. I am new also and haven't seen any
activity
until you introduced yourself. I'm hoping there are others out there for I
too think
this could be a great list for all of us. My husband is gone 8 weeks out of
ten. Do
you have children? I think it's hardest on my daughter. I have gotten used
to it but
still don't enjoy it! When you have time I'd love to hear from you and let's
see if
we can spark some interest in this list again!
Heidi
Hi Everyone,, I'm so glad I found your list!!
My hubby is gone 2 weeks and home for a couple of days and gone again. I have
adjusted to it pretty well, but it still gets hard when every time he is gone
something breaks or needs a mans strong hands. We don't have a "normal" family
life and can't plan on too much. Sure would like to hear from some of you that
are faced with the everyday problems and winging it alone.Maybe we can get
together and repair our own stuff. ha-ha.
Till Later. Ellie
Hello,
I was so excited when I found your list! My husband works on Johnston Atoll,
which is 700 miles southwest of Hawaii. He is home every eight weeks for 12
days. I adjust pretty well most of the time but it is difficult for my young
daughter.
I would love to connect with other women in my situation. Who knows there me
even be some of you out there whose husbands are also on Johnston island. Let
me know.
Heidi
Hi - I just got my first messages Nice to meet you, I just signed up too,
my hubbie works away for long periods at a time, Example, away seven weeks,
home one, away eight in the last few months. It is hard to adjust to life
when things change so rapidly. I got two other messages, but I am on digest
so they came up as attachments and I could not read them.

dawn,
hello,
my name is michelle and i am a stay at home mother of two. a boy-
13 and a girl--10. i am 30 yrs old and currently not working. am
trying to figure out something that i can do out of my home or maybe
find a part-time job. i don't want to be away much because my husband
drives a semi truck and is gone 5 to 6 days out of every week.
i tried an 8 to 5 job and it was just to stressful trying to handle the kids
and the house all by myself. kind of made me feel like a failure but i
know that if i had to do it all myself then i would manage somehow.
any way i am glad that i found your site. i had been thinking that a
group of trucker's wives would be good. but this is just as nice.
your husband travels alot? mail me, and tell me some about you and
your life.
my e-mail is
HEART@...
i am anxious to hear from you.
i need a pen-pal that understands what life is like.
