Description

This group is for the traditional liturgy apostolate of the Independent Catholic Christian Church. We are Independent Catholics, Anglicans, and others who love and are fed by the traditional Catholic liturgy as represented in the Anglican Breviary, Monastic Diurnal, Anglican Missal, English Missal, traditional Book of Common Prayer, etc.

Other topics include Gregorian chant and English plainchant, traditional extra-liturgical devotions, the history of the Western liturgy, and others.

We currently pray Vespers and Compline together on a conference call each Monday night, usually at 10:30pm Eastern. Check recent messages to make sure of the scheduled time for this week.

We will also be holding a gathering in late 2008, probably in St. Louis, MO, where we will pray the full Monastic Office and have Masses according to the English Missal or Anglican Missal.

As this is a liturgical ministry of the Independent Catholic Christian Church, a few things should be said up front. The full inclusion of women and LGBTs is a fundamental part of our ministry, so women will be included in the rota of officiants for the Office equally with men, and all priests and bishops will be invited to celebrate oratory Masses at the gathering and may be added to the rota as sacred ministers for the conventual Masses. This apostolate is not an appropriate venue for the discussion of women's ordination, LGBT inclusion, or other issues from a perspective that denies our jurisdiction's teaching on these questions. By the same token, our commitment to liturgical diversity, and especially the inclusion of those who use traditional rites and traditional language, is a given for this ministry of the ICCC. We ask that all who choose to participate in this apostolate be respectful of our commitments on these issues.
