"Ok, just checked and Waypoints are on, I just set Maxrange to 50. I don't
live in a metropolitan but there are about 10 stations I should be seeing
with that range. I should also be seeing my mobile station name under the
vehicle icon on the nuvi right?"

You have to receive your packet back from a digipeater for your station to
appear on the GPS. Of course this assumes Waypoint are ON.

Can the OT2 and nuvi 350 see more data and present it on screen like I see on
FindU or other online APRS "find" applications?

Unless you do some serious application work, your OT2/Nuvi combination
will only display what you can hear and decode on the APRS RF. APRS-IS,
which is used by the on-line applications, is quite another beast
entirely. I suspect your Nuvi really wouldn't appreciate that level of
feed even if you could manage to stuff it down its USB throat.

My Nuvi blinks a bit when a new waypoint is received from the T2-135. I
can only imaging how bad it would be with the rate of updates from APRS-IS!

I now understand better. I never had a display of APRS in car like shown on the
nuvi till now. Used to use a TT3 in the car, and told people to look for me
online. And they did, and it was fun for a while. But, they were having more
fun. I just kept driving along, presuming it was "squawking". Now, with the
nuvi, I do see what they see, but less. I guess that's OK.
Thanks, Don

aprs.fi shows the last known location of WD0AFQ-2 as somewhere in Bangladesh.
Did you move recently? ;-)

http://aprs.fi/info/WD0AFQ-2

This calls your configuration into question. Maybe it is corrupted somehow.

Can you either upload your config file or post a screen shot of the config panel
from ot2wincfg.exe?

So, I made it -3.
I could take a digital pic of the screen and email it to you. Would that work?

If aprs.fi gets a position off in the boonies, it can be quite a while
before you can show up on that site back home. It will take as long as
it would take you to travel back at 500 mph before it let's you show
up at home.

We've talked to Hessu about making the algorithm a little smarter so
that if it gets stuck with a bad location, instead of waiting for you
to be able to travel back at 500 mph, it would rather look at the last
X number of positions, and be able to realize that the position it
thinks was good was actually the bad one.

It's a little annoying to be stuck where you're not for days on end.

If I can ever get this tracker going again I will program it as -2 and move it.
I don't see anyway to delete -2.

I have confirmed the cable pin outs match the diagram posted for the
TH-G71.

I can receive data but cant get the OM2 to trigger the PTT to transmit
my location.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Adrian,

You can test the PTT by removing the radio connector from the OT2 and shorting
pin 3 (PTT) to pin 6 (GND). That should key the TH-G71. If it doesn't, recheck
the wiring. If the wiring is correct, then either the diagram in the TH-G71
manual is incorrect or incomplete.

If the TH-G71 does key up then make sure the HT jumper in the OT2 is open.

I updated the wiring diagram in the files section to include that note about the
HT jumper and added annotation to the pins on the OT2 radio connector block.

Earlier this year there was someone else who was having the same problem. There
was no additional information on whether the problem was found.

Does the C530 do NMEA data via a serial port? Other people don't have
to have used that specific GPS model for it to work for you. Read your
manual.

I looked at a C530 I saw on sale a while ago, and it does apparently support the
FMI interface via the 18 pin connection, but I never tried it with the OT2.
Seeing as it supports FMI, I'm guessing that it would work as a GPS for the OT2,
but the Nuvi 350 is the only unit that works "best" with the OT2 and waypoints.
Its not a unit that anyone has tested with the OT2, or at least they haven't
provided info on whether or not it works, compatible units and units that have
been tested are listed at:
http://wiki.argentdata.com/index.php?title=Garmin_FMI
If a units not on the list and you have the ability to test it, please add that
info as it helps everyone.

I made a post when I first registered and it is missing. I searched for posts
between 1 Apr and 1 June and it says there are no posts.

Anyways, I am locked out of my oT2m, I cannot connect to either the Garmin or
Computer and cannot change AMODE back to auto. It did this to me when I first
got it and I was told how to do a hard reset on the oT2m. I cannot find it in

Just run otwincfg and select the erase/reload option and load the
firmware with the default settings.

As long as you remember to turn on the OT2m *after* clicking 'connect',
you shouldn't ever get locked out of it from otwincfg.

All,

Just a quick note that Radio Shack online has the Garmin Nuvi 350
(refurbished) for $109.99 until July 31. Free shipping.

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3480192

or

http://tinyurl.com/l6wf5v

These are getting harder and harder to find, and they work great with
the T2 or the GTRANS cable.

No, I don't own stock in Radio Shack, and I actually already have a
350, but just letting others know about the deal.

Thanks.

What settings did you use, and what program?   I didn’t get anything that was readable, only some symbols, etc.

Your output looks like it would work.

What I’d really like to do is connect it with my Kenwood D7-AG HT as a portable unit.

Make sure your baud rate is correct. I believe 4800 is standard.

Thanks, set both the port and hyperterm to 4800 and XON/XOFF and voila, it started spewing out sentences.  Configured UI_View and it worked as well.

thanks for the info

tried all the hardware stuff and looks like it was good so i tried fiddling with
menu settings and it turns out on Menu option 15 "Trancever Control" must be
set to "OFF" for the OT2 to trigger the PTT.

Anyway hope this helps someone else.

Thanks for the info. I did recheck the cable interface and when that did not
correct the problem I fiddled with the menu settings. Turns out menu option 15
"trancever control" needs to be set to "off" for the OT2 to trigger the PTT.
Hope this helps others with a TH-G71

Adrian,

Thanks for the feedback. I have updated the wiring diagram to include setting
the menu option in the TH-G71.

When I issue the command --VOLTAGE ON, and then issue command --INFO, I see a
bunch of stats. Interesting, I see VOLT: 15.27. Why is that? I'm supplying 12.0
volts to the OT2.

By the way, what do the other terms mean?
RX:897
FCS:727

I can understand the rest.

Thanks, Don

Yes Garmin has the cable, and so does the Tracker website. Garmin says it is
compatible with the Fleet Management system. Like I said, I already own this GPS
unit and wondered if others had used the C530 with the Tracker. It would be a
really nice interface if it works with the tracker, providing a mobile display.
