SHORT HISTORY: This is one of the oldest majordomo (shared e-mail list) groups on the internet, founded on Dec 28, 1998, as diecast-toy-cars@yahoogroups.com, although it existed via a previous internet service provider as far back as 1995. In a recent subscriber poll, a majority of voting subscribers agreed that changing the name to toy-car-collectors@yahoogroups.com would be a good idea in appealing to a broader base of collectors and drawing more interest in the group.

STANDARDS: Currently, this group is open to everyone who subscribes. If, at some point, this privilege is abused by subscribers who just want to post off-topic or irrelevant spam, membership will again require approval from the group's administrator. Members would then be approved on the basis of their interest in automotive toys and models. To be accepted, applicants would need to submit a brief description of their specific interest in this subject. Nonspecific reasons such as "a friend told me about this group" will result in denied membership. This is a family-oriented group. Please, no obscenities or offensive references.
