Description

Follow Greg Kaiser's bicycle tour around the U.S.

The planned route is a combination of bicycle routes from the Adventure Cycling Association. The plan is to start from San Francisco and go north on the Pacific Coast route, then take the Northern Tier east to the Great Rivers South. Then go south and join the TransAmerican going east, until it joins with the Atlantic Coast. Take the Atlantic Coast south to the Southern Tier, take that west all the way back across to the Pacific Coast, and then back up north to the San Francisco area. This comes out to around 10,800 miles total. You can get more details about the route, including a list of milages for many cities.

The bike I'm taking is a Trek 520. I'll be carrying all of my equipment on the bike, including the tent I will probably sleep in most nights. You can get more details about the gear.

Greg started on June 5, 2002 and finished his trip on December 1, 2002. This group remains as an archive of this trip, and a number of the adventures he encountered along the way.

Note that Greg is about to start another tour, which has a separate group to follow it.
