April Greetings!

Hmm, have you ever wondered why the 1st of the month is called April Fools Day? I'm thinking it's because the warmer temps and popping flowers make us all feel a little giddy and a bit like fools after a long, cold winter. So why not make it official? Discuss.<g><g><g>

So much going on, too little space! Let's see, we have a brand-spanking new title in our Magnificent McCoys miniseries out this month; the official countdown begins for the release of our first hardcover SOFIE METROPOLIS in June, likewise plans for The Baklava Express bus tour to promote the title are moving full steam ahead; we have two great drawings for you to enter, the first from our main page, the other from our SofieMetro.com page (in this one we need your help finding a title for Sofie 2!); we just turned in the first book in our next Blaze miniseries to be called Dangerous Liaisons that's set in hot, hot, hot New Orleans and the surrounding bayous (ooh-la-la!); we're gearing up for the Romantic Times BookClub Convention in St. Louis later this month (click here for more details); we're brainstorming all sorts of fun changes to our site; and, well, we're simply operating in a general state of excitement and chaos. And we wouldn't have it any other way!

THE McCOYS RETURN!

In September our award-winning title Marry Me...Maybe? featured a reprint of the 1st book in our Temptation Magnificent McCoy Men miniseries License To Thrill. The next two titles were reprinted in last month's Harlequin Signature Select FROM McCOY, WITH LOVE and (is that a drum roll I hear?) the ultimate release of the Harlequin Signature Saga Series A REAL McCOY! Or shall we say 'Yiasas'? Yes, that definitely sounds more fitting. Because this month our books and our site go All Greek, All the Time. Opa! Why is that, you ask? Well, May marks a significant expansion in our writing career as we turn our eye toward focusing more vividly on Tony's rich Greek heritage. In our novella in the Harlequin Signature Select Collection title THAT'S AMORE, both the Greek-American hero and heroine experience pre-wedding day jitters Greek-style. METRO REPORT

Who's Sofie Metropolis? And what did she do to deserve a two-page special feature in the June issue of Romantic Times BookClub? As Tony would say, "holy sheet!" You could have knocked us over with a feather when Carol Stacy pulled us aside not five minutes after we'd registered for the RT convention in St. Louis to show us the generous, fantabulous piece put together using an interview conducted by fellow author and pal Michele Bardsley. We'd thought maybe, maybe, we'd rate a brief mention in the wildly popular mag. We never anticipated this! And while we're not entirely sure what we did to deserve it (every author believes her book rates at least a two-page feature, and she's probably right), we offer up our most heartfelt thanks to Michele, managing editor Tara Gelsomino, Carol Stacy and, of course, Kathryn Falk herself. That's right, we've finally taken the leap and have begun our own BLOG. If ever there existed words to strike the fear of God into anyone, then these have to be it! But never mind my own neuroses connected to our latest endeavor. That's right, you, too, can make baklava just the way Tony does! Well, okay, maybe not *exactly* the way he makes it (a guy's got to maintain some mystery), but close enough to satisfy your appetite for the traditional Greek dessert that he claims is an aphrodiasiac. Of course, he believes that everything qualifies for the same, but that probably falls solidly into TMI territory. I think it's a Greek thing. ;> At any rate, we've created a Recipes page that we'll be adding to monthly. Kali orixi!

With SOFIE'S availability date quickly approaching, reviewers are beginning to chime in with their thoughts on our first hardcover. And we couldn't be more tickled! The title is a FENN Reps Pick, and a Top Pick at RRAH. Kendra Patterson of the latter, has this to say, "This is a fantastic story! I was sucked into Sofie’s world and didn’t want to come up for air. Sofie is smart and plucky, while at the same time doesn’t take herself too seriously. So far we're scheduled to launch at the BookExpo America in NYC on June 3rd and will hit 36 states in two months and in three separate tour legs. We've received countless email and letters from readers wanting to know how you can get a hold of titles 4 and 5 (You Only Love Once and Never Say Never Again) in the original McCoy Men miniseries. Harlequin has plans to reissue them early next year in another Signature Select Miniseries. We'll pass on more info as soon as we have it. Our apologies for the confusion. Until then, you can try to get the original Temptation titles from on-line and other used bookstores (refer to the end of our web page for a couple of suggestions).

INTERVIEWS

If you know us, then you understand how difficult it is for us to step up to that podium to talk about ourselves. It's just not natural for a fiction writer, I tell you! We live in make believe worlds partially because we view our own lives as uninteresting. Ask us to address a topic or talk about our two brilliant sons Tony, Jr. and Tim, and we'll be the first ones in line. But interviews... I don't know. Perhaps it's because we're ceaselessly surprised that people actually want to know about us. Then, of course, there's the saying, "familiarity breeds contempt...and children," (the last part added by Samuel Clemens), meaning the more you know about us, the more opportunity you'll have to find fault. Nice feeling, isn't it? Knowing that this is the unofficial start of the summer and having the chance to relish all the promise and fun that goes along with it? And even as we humbly pay homage to those who came before, we're happy to have so many additional reasons to celebrate.

SOFIE METROPOLIS in some stores already! That's right. We paid a visit to our local Barnes and Noble's, and featured right there at the front table when we walked through the door was SOFIE in all her glossy, raised-lettering glory! Somebody pinch me, because I'm sure this can't be real.

This time of year brings to mind the Chicago song that embraces all that is summer. The sound of mellow music. Soft laughter. Quiet conversation. The clink of ice cubes in tall glasses. The 4th of July and family bbqs. The picture is so uniquely American. Yet there is always room for a little ethnic color, isn’t there? Say, a fresh tray of baklava placed just so between the red-white-and-blue frosted cake and hotdogs?

Leg 1 of our two-month Baklava Express cross-country tour is complete. Lingering in our hearts and minds is the memory of those we’ve had the pleasure to cross paths with so far, and those we look forward to encountering as we move on as seasoned travelers to Legs 2-4. BRAVO! CANADA ROMANCE DOCUMENTARY...

That's right, two very talented women with excellent reading tastes are in the middle of putting together a documentary for the Bravo! Canada cable channel, with the intention of having Bravo! America pick it up as well. They're following three romance writers from their homes to the RWA conference in Reno later this month, as well as interviewing other brilliant romance authors (say, like us?<g>) at the conference itself for the piece. Will pass on more juicy details the moment we get 'em!

Hot August Greetings!

Okay, we're a little early, but since we'll be on the road and don't know when we'll have Internet access we're sending this e-newsletter and bringing our web site up-to-date now. IMHO, there are few things more frustrating than waiting for your fav site to be updated. We hope ours is a fav of yours!

The dog days of summer. Where does that saying come from? I don’t know, but it is fitting, don’t you think? The temperatures are high. The kids are restless. And our thoughts start turning to shopping for school clothes for the kiddies and to autumn and, if you’re anything like us, replenishing the TBR book pile.

WE MADE THE TIMES!

Oh, all right, we didn't *make* make The New York Times Bestseller List, but our fantabulous publisher Forge placed a knockout ad featuring SOFIE and The Express Tour in today's (7/24) New York Times Magazine. Check it on page 40. We'll take it!

OUR TOUR ADVENTURES CONTINUE...

Neither of us can believe that we’re almost done with our cross-country tour. We have Leg 4 yet to go from Reno to Minneapolis, then we’re done. Our Tour BLOG is chock full of journal entries and photos of our adventures. Including the final journey of The Express. Yes, that means what you fear it does. Our much beloved trailer with the fantastic graphics touting Sofie's release is currently sitting in a salvage yard somewhere in Texas. Pardon me if I don't go into detail about it here beyond saying that we and the driver who spun out of control and hit us are okay. In the end, that's all that matters. Ah, autumn. If Tony ever succeeds in convincing me to retire the snow shovel and move down to Florida, this is the season I’d miss most here in the Midwest. The little ghosts and goblins have made off with the candy we've been bingeing on over the past few days and we slide effortlessly into November. Only anticipation of the coming holidays eclipses the shorter days and the sense of another month having passed. This is such a unique time of year, isn't it? Warm greetings from chilly NW Ohio!

Just wanted to pass on info we unfortunately left out of our last newsletter and to post a correction. Put it down to deadline dementia. We're in the final throes of our May Blaze SUBMISSION and, well, you'll soon see why we're so distracted. This has to be our most intense Blaze yet!

Holiday Greetings!

What a wonderful season. Snow blankets the ground. The scent of pine trees fills the air. Bulbs light up the night. Good cheer permeates everything you do and radiates from everyone you meet. But no matter how early you put up the tree or take out the menorah, in our humble opinion the holidays don't truly begin until you receive your first card. For us this year that came from dear friend and fellow writer Karen Drogin aka Carly Phillips. The annual pic of her beautiful girls (young women now, really), and the family dog Buddy is the perfect way to set a happy tone for the month. Here's hoping your first card inspires the same happy-happy, joy-joy good feelings.

March Greetings!

We roar into the month knowing that our girl Sofie Metropolis has been picked up for another two books. This and the paperback edition doesn't become available until April, and the second title Dirty Laundry doesn't hit store shelves until May. Woohoo! We can't tell you how thrilled we are with the news. Thanks to each of you for helping making our hardcover series debut a success. Virtual baklava all around!

What else is going on this month? Oh! Happy St. Patrick's Day! Tony likes to point out that even Greeks enjoy being Irish for a day. And after spending time with Bruce and Leslie Kelly in Florida last month -- and viewing the great pics of their trip to Ireland -- we go into the holiday with a special appreciation of all things Irish...especially dear friends.

A SOMBER NOTE...

Narrator Anna Fields aka Kate Fleming, who was the extraordinary voice of our SOFIE METROPOLIS for the first two audio books, died tragically last month. Click here for more info. Then again, Phil promised an early spring and twelve days later we got clobbered by a Valentine's Day blizzard, so we're taking any sunny day predictions with a grain of salt. We have mounds of snow in our yard that probably won't melt until July. Gotta tell ya, groundhog soup sounded awfully good around here for a time.

Still...funny how fickle life can be, isn't it? With the first day of spring just a couple of weeks away, we're all smiles, Phil and our murderous intents forgotten. Well, okay, maybe not forgotten. But quickly being put behind us.

We are so ready for spring and we're guessing you are, as well. We're planning our flower beds and cleaning up our gardening tools. And just like office supplies, one can never have too many garden-related goodies. Check out this month's drawing and see if you don't agree...

ADAM AND EVA REVISITED...

THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS!

April greetings!

And happy spring. Amazing, isn’t it? The way time seems to fly. Today the sun was warm and robins bobbed around the yard. Seems just yesterday we were knee deep in snow. Wait a minute…we were!

Another sure sign of the passage of time is that May marks both the release of the paperback edition of the second book in our Sofie Metropolis series DIRTY LAUNDRY (5/2) as well as the hardcover of the third in the series FOUL PLAY (5/29). Pre-orders are being taken for both books now (details in righthand column). It seems incredible that we’re on book three already, much less having a blast plotting out book four.
