The Town of Babylon Amateur Radio Emergency Services (TOBARES) is composed of Federal Communications Commission (FCC), licensed amateur radio operators who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment for communication duty to the public when disaster strikes.
Amateur radio operators have been assisting since the early 1950's within the Town of Babylon as part of the Town's Emergency Preparedness Plans and Civil Defense, and have been enrolled in either the ARRL's Amateur Radio Emergency Service (A.R.E.S.), The Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (R.A.C.E.S.), and / or The National Traffic System (NTS).
Today there are over 15 agencies that interact with the Town of Babylon that TOBARES is active with.
