The Tennessee Folklore Network (tnfolklorenetwork) is intended to provide a means of communication among professional folklorists and other individuals interested in researching, documenting, presenting, and/or preserving the traditional culture of Tennessee and its border states. While the list was started in 2004 at the request of members of the Tennessee Folklore Society, it is open to anyone with a legitimate interest in traditional culture.

The Tennessee Folklore Society maintains its own Web site at http://www.tennesseefolklore.org/. Check that site for information regarding TFS membership, meetings, publications, special projects, etc.

The concerns and purposes of the Tennessee Folklore Network include, but are not limited to: providing mutual support and opportunities for collaborative work; education; funding strategies for projects; sharing information; discussing who we are, the organizational structures we use, our areas of expertise, and our current or future projects; how to help or mentor community or emerging folklife-related events and/or organizations; and ethical standards. Members are encouraged to post files and photos, to add links, and to use the calendar feature to advertise events.
