Subject: My Native American resources ... 4 sources.
I had a number of people show an interest in my Native American Art
resources, so here is more information, a graphic and a poem.
I connect to the Internet through ComCast TV cable. ComCast gives me three
different ways to share information. I have my resources spread over all
three. Unfortunately, the best part, Chief Seattle's speech, is too big to
go onto any of them so I send it out on CD-ROM discs or DVD discs. I
generally use CD-ROM discs since I can also combine the Chief Seattle speech
and most of the other resources. Feel free to poke all around these sites.
NorthWest Coast Indian BentWoodBoxes ...

BentWoodBoxes (all four sides are made from one continuous piece of
wood) are a special type of art and craftsmanship made by these Indian
groups, Haida, Klingit, Kwakiutle, Coastal Salish, Saxman, etc). Each of
these were created for specific individuals with a religious significance.
Native American WebPics. and some Poetry from ..Wes's Web Page ...

Web Pages)
(PCs only...doesn't work on Macs) This is an art form that I have been
experimenting with. There are about 55 multimedia presentations with art,
animation, and music. Students can learn to make their own. It works best
to set the View to "Arrange by Types" since the presentation files and music
files are intermixed
Native American Clip Art ...

Here is where all of my Native American clip art is. It is spread
across 18 different topics (albums) like NorthWest Indian, SouthWest Indian,
Plains Indian, Pottery, Dream Catchers, etc. This location is a bit weird
in that I have to share the 18 albums with individual e-mail addresses and
you have to register the first time you go in. They just want to know who
is visiting their site and they are setup to sell you photographs. But, you
can Copy/Paste the clipart and they don't misuse your registration. I'll
try to grant access to anyone who writes me for it. You want to set your
view to "Thumbnails" for these files.
Chief Seattle Speech movie ... On CD-ROM disc or DVD. On the CD-ROM disc,
there are most of the resources referred to above also. I'll mail out a
copy to those who ask for one. On the CD-ROM disc, you just play the file
on your computer using the Microsoft Media Player or Real Audio. There is a
"Readme" file with more details.
I would appreciate it if anyone who has a look at these posts their feelings
about usefulness so that others will know if it is worth their time. What
is more precious to a teacher than time?

My Indian Pride
My body lives in the white man's land,
Yet strong and proud my red skin still stands.
Stripped of my heritage long ago,
Forced to give up the arrow and bow.
Denied the home where my people died,
For they trusted, yet the white father lied.
I wait in peace for our nation's return,
As foreseen in ghost dance,
For this my heart yearns.
The spirit wind listens,
As the moon hears my cry.
My soul remains free,
With the eagle it flies.
Like war drums my heart beats with my Indian pride,
My spirit pony still with me rides.
A dream that one day my tribe will unite,
This I know is my Cherokee right.
They can take my life but not my soul,
I am Red,
I am Proud,
I am Cherokee,
Behold!
