I vote emphatically for November, just because I'm
still trying to get my shit together. I would love to
participate in that one. I'd go all out to get ready
for it.

Hello All,

I just wanted to let everyone know what is going on as far as future shows
and such. I will be meeting with Charlotte Beeler (my spelling may be
wrong) from the Middle Georgia Art Association this weekend to look into a
possible opportunity for an exhibition in Macon. I don't have any details
yet, but we are tentatively hoping for a late spring/early summer show in
Macon. Also, we are looking at a possible show in the fall at Middle
Georgia College in Cochran, which will not be a very profitable exhibition,
but does offer to possibility of some gallery talks. Also, I believe that
the Tate Student Center Gallery at UGA takes proposals each summer for the
following year, so I am hopeful that we will be able to arrange something
there for the 05-06 school year. Anyone in the Athens area please keep a
lookout in the flagpole for an announcement about the Tate gallery and post
it on yahoo or something.

In related news, the Middle Georgia Art Association mentioned to me that
they have an abundance of juried shows in the spring of each year, so I try
to gather information about those exhibitions and relay them on to everyone.
Also, if anyone has any ideas or anything about possible exhibitions
spaces, artists interested in joining, or anything else, please post them.
Mark, I want to try and come up to Athens in a couple of weeks to touch base
with you about the group and maybe have a beer. Email me or call me and we
can make arrangements.

Thanks everyone,

Jonathan Dye

Mike, I uploaded my photos from the Earl show to the Yahoo
Group so you can download them from there. I'm sorry it took so
long, but I had to buy a flash drive to move them to a computer
with internet access.

Oh yeah . . .

Hey, I'm a lame one. I'll get mine together today. By the way, do we
each print and sign 3 copies of the release, or does Jon print 3 copies
and get each of us to sign it? The latter seems more sensible, but the
former is what she seemed to write . . . I guess I'l go with sensible,
unless one of you says otherwise.

Just so everyone knows, I've got a day job now (although I'm working
both late night and day for the next 2 weeks -- bleh) and I don't have
a truck any more. I totaled it just before xmas. Rock on me.
Hopefully I'll have a replacement vehicle by the end of the month, but
for right now my mobility is limited.

Yours,
Mark Watkins

Just so you know, I did come get my pictures on Sunday.  Why such an
abrupt change in plans?  Well, let me tell you, little monkeys.  Daddy
smashed his truck into the back of a Ford Expedition.  "Why?"  Why do
you people keep asking me 'why'?  Screw you guys anyway.

Hey Jon:

Yahoo was choking on it, but you can get it at my idisk account. I
posted a bunch of messages about how to get into it; you should be able
to get at them on the yahoo groups website (groups.yahoo.com). I'll
make sure the info is accurate.

Actually, now that I think about it, it might be easier to get to it by
going to homepage.mac.com/slim_creeper and clicking on the three cities

Can we meet to put up the pictures earlier?  Say noon or 1 o'clock?  I
need to work for Ann at around 6 and need to get back earlier than I

It sounds like a good idea to me.  I'm still working on the cards, but
I should have them done today.  I basically had to start over because I
don't have a full scale image of the final version of the logo.  For
branding purposes, I don't want to use the alternate (and less
effective) version I have in full scale.  Also, I'm doing a lot of work
in Gimp as a way of training myself with the program, and so it's going
slowly.  But I'm learning a lot!  I think we'll be pleased with the
final version.

I could just go ahead and design a backside to my flyers with the sort
of things Michael is talking about.  This is pretty much what I was
planning on spending my morning doing anyway.

Has anyone thought about exhibition cards yet? Something with the three cities
name on it, website address and a few brief lines saying "check us out, get
involved, please submit, do shows, your work will sell, move to new york be
famous ...etc" you get the gist' ... I think it would be a good way (since I
think alot of other artists will be coming) for people to get something in hand
to take home - so they won't forget. I just think it would be a good idea to put
something like that on a card- or maybe on the reverse of the cards Mark was
doing. Any ideas?

Hey guys, I'm experimenting with a .Mac free trial. Check out the
following website.

www.homepage.mac.com/slim_creeper

I knocked it out in about twenty minutes. If I stuck with the program
I'd use their program for the gallery page and schedule because it's so
easy to update, and write my own for the rest.

Also try this out:

If you have Windows XP, go to the Three Cities Work Folder link at the
top of the page. From there, download the idisk utilities program.
You can use it to get complete access to that folder -- You can add,
delete or whatever you want just like it was a folder on your hard
drive. Once it's installed, it will prompt you asking for more info.
At the bottom of the little window, click on Public folder and enter
slim_creeper in the blank at the top. When it prompts you for a
password, enter 3cities and hit enter. Your computer will think for a
minute. Next click on the My Computer icon on your desktop. It should
have a Network Drives icon for slim_creeper-Public. You can click on
it and use it just like any other disk drive on your computer.

Otherwise it's more complicated:

If you're using Windows 2000, open My Computer, choose Map Network
Drive from the Tools menu, then click "Web folder or FTP site." Enter
the following as the location to add:
http://idisk.mac.com/membername-Public? (where "membername" is the
other person's .Mac member name).

If you're using Windows 98, open My Computer, double-click the Web
Folders icon, then double-click Add Web Folder. Enter the following as
the location to add: http://idisk.mac.com/membername-Public? (where
"membername" is the other person's .Mac member name).

Michael, you could put up the code for the threecities.com site so we
could all help update it. I'm going to put up a text document entitled
'What's New' so every time we make a change we can let everyone know.

Remember, I've only got 15 - 20 megs right now, since it's a trial
version, but I'll have 250 if I decide to keep it. I must admit, I'm
becoming dangerously enamored of it. (And yes, I know I can get 1 gig
of mail memory from places like google, but apple less likely to spy on
me, and if I need it, I can always get it in addition to .Mac).

The yahoo groups mailing list is probably too useful to give up, but
I'd like to be able to work without having to deal with all the ads and
crap.

Yours,
Mark Watkins

Thanks, Derek, I should be able to do something with that -- not the
same design, of course, but the best laid plans of mice and men . . .

On that note, does anyone have a decent digital camera they can bring
to the show? We can remedy these problems.

Yours,
Mark Watkins

Try this one.  It's left over from my failed atempt at a website.  It should be hi-res enough.

Mark,

I don't have anything at a higher resolution.  One of my paintings is at
Burman Printing outside of watkinsville, and if you have the facility to
scan it or something, you could pick it up from them.  They were supposed to
do a print for me, but they sent me a shitty looking proof and expected me
to let them print it.  I haven't been able to get up there and pick it up
but if you could use it, I would be glad to call them and tell them to
release it to you.

Hey kids:

Jon: do you have any higher-res pics for the flyer? It's going to
stink if you don't. I can't really do much without it.

Micheal: Sorry, nothing on the website will work. They're all 72 dpi,
which is appropriate for the web but not printed medium. In Man's
Hands will work fine, although it's a shame we don't have anything from
this show to put up.

I'm sticking everything you guys give me on the yahoogroups page so I
can get to it easily from either computer. If that bothers anyone, let
me know. Obviously, yahoo isn't an appropriate place to leave any
information that we mind being stolen, but hey, if having our pictures
stolen isn't flattery, what is? I don't think it'll be a problem. We
can delete them when we're done with them.

Incidentally, since my digital camera seems to honestly be lost and/or
stolen, anyone who wants to get me one for Christmas is welcome to.
And no need to wait till Christmas. I'm not greedy, 3 megapix is fine.

Yours,
Mark Watkins

Hi everyone, I just got your emails, so I apologize for not getting in
touch with you sooner. Mark, I like the poster, Mike, I will be
working tomorrow evening, but I will try to call you on my lunch
break. I am sorry that I haven't gotten in touch with you sooner, but
I don't have a phone anymore and I have been in working most evenings
as of late. Brandon emailed me and said that he still wants to
exhibit with us, he has just had a lot of solo shows recently that
have kept him busy. I will talk to you thursday on my lunch break
about other issues. Hopefully we will be able to work eveything out.
I will try to check my email everyday at the library so hopefully you
wont have trouble getting in touch with me anymore.

Jonathan
