Strong John Thomson Elementary serves 355 students from age three through 5th grade under the leadership of Dr. Gladys Camp. In 2005, Thomson became the first District of Columbia Public school to offer Chinese language instruction. Our Chinese lessons, a strong music program and a celebration of diversity have allowed Thomson Elementary to become a candidate for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB- PYP).

Thomson Elementary is located at 1200 L Street NW in a newly-renovated and expanded building.
